how are you having your nails?

xmasbride11, 26 July, 2011 at 20:06 Posted on Planning 0 10

As the title says... how are you having your nails on your wedding day? Are you doing them yourself or getting someone else to? Colour or French manicure?

I am not sure what to do with mine. I used to wear acrylics alot but they damaged my nails, plus I have gone off how they look. I prefer short nails these days. But I am unsure whether to go and get a French manicure or just use one of my many nail varnishes (Nails Inc, OPI and Jessica) and do it myself. I loved Kate Middleton's nails on her wedding day (pale pink) so am thinking something natural and understated.

Otherwise I am wondering whether to get them Minxed. I always have various Minx on my toes but the lady who does mine says there's loads that will look nice for wedding day too.

Hmmm decisions!!

I am going to have a french polish in "Gellish" - basically a nail varnish that is "ured" under LED light and so sets immediately and is more hard wearing than normal varnish!

I had Gel nails and then the pink of the french manicure (not the white tips) and loved them

Edited to say I had them done professionally

Just to say that Gellish is different to gel - it is not as thick and looks just the same as normal polish... I used to have gel, but have not looked back since I found this ... I know some other companies do something similar e.g. Shellac

Love these! I'm going to get Shellac done, in red. I always have red or dark colours on my nails so just going to stick with what i like.

I don't care what i'm doing as long as its something. I'm not allowed false or nail varnish at work and have to keep them short so can't wait to be able to wear something for a whole two weeks! are the gel ones the thicker looking ones or is that acrylics?

Gel and acrylic look very similar, only acrylic are stronger and therefore worse for your nails. If you don't get the tips added on they don't look think as such. HTH.
