How are you having your nails?

2013_Bride_, 2 July, 2013 at 11:26 Posted on Planning 0 33

Fun post! Smiley smile

How are you having your nails done for your big day? (If anything different from your average day).

Think I quite fancy nude then silver glitter style tips!

I'm having very light pink, probably shellac so it lasts.

Part of me wants to go a bit wacky with my ring finger and have a 'rebel nail', possibly having 'Mrs A' or, 'I Do' in gold.

But, I don't know if I really want to look back at that in 20 years time and think "you div!"

LOL! Thats what I think RE my silver tip nails!

Its hard to brave the non-traditional route sometimes isn't it?!

My nails were really damaged on the run up to the wedding so I got the gel ones & did the french tips on them. I got them done shaped rather than square. Nude with silver glitter tips sound lovely!

It's really hard, my nails are never traditional. Right now I have pink with tips that look like hundreds and thousands. I've called it my 'ice cream frenchie' so a french manicure for me is a no no!

These photos are actually on my pinterest for nail inspiration for weddings and sound similar to what you're thinking of?

For our proper wedding I had gel extensions with a pale pinky colour. For our home blessing/party I had gel extensions with silver glittery tips.

My sister's friend has offered to do mine for free- she has her own mobile nail salon thingy. I NEVER get my nails done (I'm a nibbler) so I'm quite looking forward to it!

I'm going to have something like this:

The other alternative was to have nautical flag symbols spelling out mine and OHs name- exactly 10 letters! Perfect...

Them!! But the nail will be longer (gel nails)... and maybe even more sparkier!

My MUA had them when I had my trial done and I loved them (and consequently stole the contact details of who did them from her so I could copy them!) Smiley smile

I'm an old married but I'm sooo going to have a try at doing those with the sparkly tips for an evening out, gorgeous!!!

For my big day (in 2007! ? where does the time go?!) I just painted a nude pink with clear on top, so pretty standard really.

Glitter shellac!!! That's like a dream come true!!

I was asking one of my OM friends about her nails, she got married in Mexico and was out there a week before the wedding. She had shellac french but painted over that in coral. Took the coral off on the day of the wedding and the shellac was still in place.

I never do my nails, so the night before my best friend and BM is going to do a french manicure with sparkle as she does her own nails all the time.

I don't usually go for anything normal at all, but the last time I had my nails done, about a month ago I decided to try something new, white tips with a silver glitter line on my ring finger which looked nice. It felt very weird having plain nails though so maybe I'll go back to the usual me, something a bit different. I am also worried that I will look back at photos in a few years and think, 'hmmm...really!' Is a jewel a bit out of date nowdays?

I have nail varnish in every colour of nude under the sun. Who knew there were THAT many shades of nude? I'll go for one of the darker, slightly shinier ones on my toes and then a lighter one on my finger nails. I thought about nail art etc but wanted a more classic, timeless look.

Absolutely no idea! Nails are normally something I put a lot of thought into as well- I never have naked nails.

I was considering a dipped glitter on nude type thing but I'm also concerned I may look back and think what was I thinking.

Hoping to get some inspiration from this topic!! Shellac is definitely the way to go though

Ooh I wanted a lace look but not sure how it would turn out, have you tried it yet?

I have seen pics of lace glued on to the nails but thought that would to (for lack of a better term) 'footery'

Haha - this is exactly the same as me!!! I have countless bottles of varying shades of natural/nude nail varnishes and one or two bright colours bought on a whim that I never wear!

Trapsy - I love the idea of blue toenails though - especially as one of my colours for the day is blue I'm tempted (though I'll probably chicken out)

Skeptical - I LOVE those nails - they'll look amazing!

I hate my nails normally. Really really hate them (don't like my hands) so I never do anything with them. But am going to treat myself to proper fake nails for the wedding.

(usually if I am going to something I will wear those fake nails that you get in boots that last a week)

Really not sure wether to bother. I'm a vet nurse and so I can't have nice nails for work, I have to keep them short and plain. I know I should make an effort for the big day but it feels like such a waste of money to have them done for one day, only to have them ripped off a few days later. Am I being too tight? If I was to have any it would be something like this....

    That looks really nice, unusual.

What are you all thinking for your toes? I have never had a pedicure so i thought I would treat myself. I'm not sure what colour to go for, usually I would choose pink but my shoes are pink, it might look like i have no toes¡! ?

I always have gel nails. I'm going to have a nude/light pink I think. I want it to look timeless. Fingers crossed I don't break a nail tho, I'm not a fan of false nails but will have to if one breaks Smiley sad
