How beautiful are broach bouquets!

KimB1980, 16 June, 2012 at 22:42 Posted on Planning 0 11

I have discovered broach bouquets for the first time to tonight and am definitely having one. Our theme is red, silver and ivory.

Going to make one myself, I have a few in my jewellery box that I've gathered over the years. Can't wait to have a trawl round the thrift shops.

Is anyone else having or had one?

I love them too ? however I have decided to make a hybrid paper flower and brooch bouquet, decided I love paper flowers too and I want to have those decorating my venue and I want everything to have some shared elements. I have started collecting brooches .... Very addictive lol

I love brooch and button bouquets. I am making a button bouquet, although I have picked up some beautiful brooches from China off ebay. I ordered a couple and the quality is not bad considering they were a couple of quid each. I'd have ordered more but they took 3 weeks to arrive and I didnt leave enough time to order anymore.

Yup, I'm making a brooch and silk flower bouquet with the help of my mum. I'm going to trawl charity shops for jewellery and will also be using some of my nan's old jewellery. Looking forward to getting creative with that and my mum said she's looking forward to going to Hobbycraft ?

I've been going through Google Images and just want one more and more. There's some good step by step guides too. Im going to have to be strict with myself though because I also love the buttons, paper flowers and ribbons!

My sister is a complete magpie and can't resist shiny & sparkly so will get her on the case for collecting.

Im having my 2year old daughter as my bridesmaid and want her to have a little flower bag. I have one of my grans (sadly no longer with us but we named our Alice after her) little pouch handbags from the 1930's, it's black with diamanté and I've now been inspired to use this as my little ones bag with some small red & ivory flowers and beads to match our colours.

I alsO have my grans big silver cross which id love to wear for sentimental reasons but it's not exactly pretty - a broach bouquet seems the perfect solution to include it and pretty it up.

I cant wait to start now!

How do you make one? I think they are beautiful, I'm just not very creative and don't have much time!

^^^ makes attaching some brooches look like a military operation lol
I used white 26g sugar craft wire as my entire bouquet is ivory/white

That's gorgeous. I want my finished article to look similar. Did you just put everything together from scratch? I need a step-by-step tutorial as I'm not very good at putting things together and it ending up looking great!

My aunt is making mine for me.... I have built up quite a collection of brooches and buttons now.

A little tip - dont assume that everything you see in the charity shops are all they have. I have been to all of them in our town and asked if they have any more than what is on display. One of them brought out 3 carrier bags crammed full of jewellery items, and I went away with a good hoard for £5. Also, keep an eye out for things like earrings and necklaces, which can also be used.
