I got Technical, which is BS - I'm as common as muck, ha.

Did anyone else tick the "scientist" box because of Footlong? I did. ?

I was thinking I could tick off almost that entire list but I was thinking Hitchers probably don't count!

    Established middle class here too!

I think it was the super wide range of people I know that did that, oh and I really like the theatre. I'm sure I don't really have enough money to be classed as comfortable though!! Owning the house swung me there I think.

A colleague and I had great fun checking around options, seeing which pushed you up and which dragged you down. Some oddities....

Listening to jazz makes you classy, despite jazz being working class in origin. Presumably, the survey imagines you listening to coffee table jazz in a loft flat rather than proper stuff in a smoky basement in New Orleans.

Watching sports makes you less classy. What? Even if it's polo you watch? Or your string of racehorses?

I am a lowly Emergent Service Worker

I am pleased to not have been put to the lowest group - but I'm not far off it.

It's cos we socialise with those above our station in the local social club.

I thought it was quite a good survey actually, and I don't feel too rotten about the result because it seem to indicate that most people my age are in this category.

Traditional working class. Seems about right to me. H got Elite but I suspect he may have fibbed a bit

Established middle class. Probably because we own a house.

Also established middle class. I think my cheap ass house and being married to a Call Centre worker (the shame!) held me back.

Technically medical class. Bit boring. Apparently the gym is an emerging culture?

I realised how narrow my social set was when I could only tick the box for solicitors and secretaries when it came to people I know *need friends outside of work*

Also established middle class. Doesn't surprise me that many/most on here will be the same.

This is daft. It places too much emphasis on home ownership! What is it with us Brits and bricks n' mortar?

We rent, but we are 'comfortably' well off (the only reason we don't own a house is because I'd rather spend my money on things I enjoy than save for a deposit, plus we live in one of the most expensive parts of the UK outside of London- the small 2 bed terrace we're currently renting would be nudging £200k on the open market)

We do have significantly more disposable income than friends of ours who are home owners, yet they fall into the higher category just because they own a house! Even if they are struggling to make the payments on a mortgage they can't really afford and only got a house in the first place thanks to mummy and daddy (no sour grapes, honest!). Plus, I went to Uni whereas most of them didn't.

Although, apparently we 'emergent service workers' enjoy a cultured social life, which is better than having yer own gaff any day! ?

Another emergent service worker here. Apparently, this means I am financially insecure, have low scores for savings and house value, but high scores for social and cultural factors. It's true, but makes me sound poor Smiley sad ha ha

Am confused by this. Am established middle class apparently.

Am assuming that class no longer relates to our parentage. Since my mum was a waitress and my dad a dustman... Am I trying to better myself by being a member of the national trust? perhaps I should stop listening to classical music? Perhaps I shouldn't have bought that ex council house?

    hmmm.

This baffled me, I did this quiz about 8 times and kept getting Traditional Working Class, nothing wrong with that only no one else here had put that they got the same, then I realised I wasn’t including H in the annual earnings box! I am such an idiot!

I am Established Middle Class, but according to the survey I went to Uni which is boll0cks!

    I done it wrong...*yuk yuk* ?

Didn't realise it was HOUSEHOLD income- so just put MY salary in!

Plus I forgot I know a Solicitor (in fact 2, my Uni housemates) and a teacher (my SISTER!?)

So I've now been promoted to Middle Class! Despite not owning a house. ?
