How close is too close?

gemchoo, 6 July, 2011 at 12:56 Posted on Planning 0 11

How close to the wedding do you feel would be too close for my OH to go on his stag? 3 nights in Portugal, they are a pretty sensible bunch so i'm not worried about him loosing any eyebrows or anything silly but the wedding is 4th May and they're lookin at going 21st - 24th April. 1 week and 3 days before....

At least you have the option of coming back from Portugal by train if there is an ash cloud problem.

Personally I'd give a lot longer than a week and a bit but then again I've chosen not to have one so it's all cosmetic really.

I'm a worrier too! i cant help myself!!

It's the only weekend all of his friends / bestman / users etc who he'd really want to go can make it due to other commitments.

guess i'll have to leave it up to him in the end! thanks for the replies though x

I'm a bit of a worrier too. However, ultimately, I would think that I shouldn't have much of a say in his stag do. I trust my partner to make his own decisions on such things and would believe that he has considered the consequences of his decisions. If he asked me opinion I would say that I thought it was a bit close and would be worried about all the jobs that will need doing at that point and how he was going to help out with them but the decision would be his.

If its the only weekend they can all do then thats fine. Not worth having people miss out just to move it a bit further away! Could be worse... they could all only be free a night or two before the wedding!

I would want a good month if it were me, esp for one abroad.

My OH is having his 6-8 weeks before the wedding (his friends aren't the sensible type unfortunately) and I'm having my hen weekend about 5 weeks before. We want to have ours then have at least a month to concentrate on last minute wedding stuff (and for him to mend broken bones/grow back eyebrows etc)

I'd say no more than 2 weeks before. OH went to a stag the other week and came back with a black eye (not his fault at all, just in wrong place at wrong time). I'd be gutted if that happened a week before our wedding!

I know girls tend to be more sensible than boys but my Hen do was a week in Marbella and I got home on the Sunday and got married the following Saturday and it was totally fine !! And I went away for 2 nights from the Tuesday to my aunties house to help her make our cupcakes !

I just made sure I was organised before I went to Marbella
