How did You Celebrate Your 30th?

With a trip to Disney World!

I'm having a joint party with my best friend who turns 30 two weeks before I do. We've hired a room in a lovely pub which has it's own bar and music system, and we're going to have an 80's theme. I've already started on the playlist, it's not until December ?

On the actual day, OH took me shopping. His present to me was vouchers for House of fraser and he'd booked a session with a personal shopper. We went for a meal in the evening. I then had a party on the following Saturday. I hired the function room of a nice riverside pub, booked a DJ and got the pub to do some food. It was pretty good, even if I do say so myself ?

Stayed in Verona with 3 close girlfriends (as it was before I was married) for 4 days.

Visited Venice on one day, sight seeing in Verona on another day and spent a day lazing around a spa and its grounds filled with thermal pools near Lake Garda on another.

Thinking back It was quite romantiic really as I rubbed the statue of Juliet for luck in love and a month after to the day I met my late husband, so in a way it was a very special birthday.

I'm having a joint party with my daughter (her first birthday - thunder stealing little monkey) although I'm also hoping to have more of an adult party * / dinner too with close friends.

* by 'adult' I don't mean pornographic in nature.

I went out for a meal with about 20 or so of my closest mates then went dancing afterwards.

I went on holiday to Majorca with my parents, MrSun and MissSun. My birthday is halloween so mum put a poster on the hotel door and organised a cake. MrSun was miserable at usual and couldn't see what all the fuss was about.

Went to New York with WTP

With a day in Arusha National park, Tanzania.

H asked the boss if i could have a day off

I shouldnt be admitting to this but I went to see Billy Joel in concert on my birthday evening, ON MY OWN ?

The evening before I went out for a nice meal with friends and the day after my birthday we had a bbq at home.

I take it you wont be stealing any ideas from my experience ?

HS - That is what I call planning ahead. ?

CD - The personal shopper sounds fab.

EJJ - It sounds like you had a fab weekend.

Rented a PA, put it in my local and had 3 of my mates bands play.

Was good at the time.

I had a Hawaiian themed party.

Went to work and had:

Champagne breakfast with a friend before the day started

Lunch at the pub with work friends

Tea at the pub (spot a theme here?!)

Then went dancing

The following week went with 5 friends to Centre parcs for the week and chilled out which was lovely

Went to Center Parcs with husband, children and my two oldest friends, marvelled at the fact I had reached 30 & had so much to be thankful for, and wondered when I would feel like I was a proper grown up.

H and I are having a long weekend in Paris for mine in July

OH and I went to Leeds for the night and stayed in a lovely hotel. Then to Thirsk for the next night and went to the races.

Mine is in 2 weeks and I'm having a party. But I'm at the horrible stage where people are either telling me they're not coming or not telling me either way so it could be a very small do! What the hell I'll enjoy myself ?

I rode from London to Brighton on my bike! With a tshirt on made up by my friend saying 'I am 30 today' so got lots of well wishers riding past (lol) calling out happy birthday!! We stayed in hotel afterwards and my friends stayed too and they decorated a table in a resteraunt in Brighton with balloons and table confetti.

Me and H went away for a weekend to Bath later in the year

My 30th was on a Wednesday, so H & I had the day off work. We had a lovely brunch and then met up with my parents at our flat for cake (courtesy of Konditor & Cook ?) before going on the London Eye. My sister only just made it to our booked time slot. My birthday is in July, but the weather was horrible, glae force winds & lashing rain, still we enjoyed the Eye. We then went to the Oxo Tower for dinner before my parents & sister left. H & I then went out to one of our favourite wine bars & got lashed. It was a lovely day

For my H's 30th the year before, we went to Paris along with about 16 friends & his parents & sister. It was Bastille Day, so there was lots going on. That was fun too...

Well I'm still undecided on mine (this summer) but it might involve a bouncy castle, some sumo suits and space hoppers, lots of booze and a bbq. Other options are a Japanese night - I've found a fab restaurant which also has karaoke rooms which I'm thinking might be fun. But we are off The Big Chill a week after my birthday with about 12 others so I may just make the whole festival all about ME....!

Friends of mine who have turned 30 recently have done various things - 1 hired out a wine and cheese bar in central london, 3 others clubbed together and have rented a house in Kent which sleeps 22 and has a cinema and swimming pool for a weekend with a 70s pool party on the sunday. Others have done clubbing nights (Electric Chair in Manchester).

Mines next month and i know there is some sort of surprise happening. Maybe London and a show. Looking forward to what ever it is.
