As I am not a young bride, and my grandaughters really are my bridesmaids, but they are very small, so their mums, my 2 daughters are bridesmaids too. The little ones will wear ivory or cream depending on what I choose for mine with a coloured sash, but I am thinking black dresses for the big ones, it's a dress they are more likely to wear again for nice functions, then I want the men to wear red ties, I want the tiniest bit of red in otherwise white bouquet of bud roses, and red sashes on the little ones. I hope that will look ok.

I chose red ages ago (one one of the 1st things i knew !!)

its my fav colour so thats what decided it !!

I found some bridesmaid dresses in coast recently and they were just what I had in mind so all turned out ok i guess !!

have a look on the web at different colour combos for weddings as you might find you dont like the overall look of a colour !

I chose mine based on the time of year (autumn) mainly, and after seeing some lovely colour schemes on here (also with a lot of help from mrs kitty!!). my BMs are in choc brown with ivory and the colour scheme is brown, burnt orange, reddy autumn colours-I'm in ivory

I choose my flowers first (my favourites - red gerberas) and then went for gold for my bridesmaid.

I asked her what she fancied and we thought it would tone in nicely with the flowers and the autumnal time of year.

It was always going to be bright pink - I knew that even before we were engaged! It's my favourite colour, I even used to have a pink car!

Plus, it seemed to be an easy colour to get things to match up to, and lots of different shades of pink look really nice together, so it made my job a lot easier.

I suppose you need to think about your bridesmaids' colouring as well, and what colours will suit them.

I picked gold to start with and then I was looking through a magazine and saw a silver theme and it just jumped out the page at me, so I changed.

Is your reception venue a specific colour? if so maybe matching it up with that might be a start, if it is cream etc then pick your favourite colour or flower. x

I'm having a silvery, greeny sort of colour which co-ordinates nicely with my h2b's tartan. The colour scheme was always going to be based around his tartan so the decision was easy really.

My sister (CBM) chose pink. She will be in pink and my daughter (who will be 13) will be in ivory maybe with a pink sash. The FG's will be in pink too.

I really didn't have a preference and they're the ones who have to wear it.

We're having pale pink, for two reasons.

Firstly, after having 2 boys with the ex (they're 17 & 19), h2b and I have our much adored daughter Libby who is 2 and a pink fiend (and I'm loving it!). Secondly, we live in Hampshire, the garden of England, and I want my flowers to be very "cottagey". So pink ties in nicely. Other colours are ivory and silver.

OHs tartan is gold and burgundy. I'm wearing burgundy so the bridesmaids are in gold (well, champagne strictly speaking!)

Firstly i had cherry red in my mind looking through all the magazines etc. I took my bridesmaids to try on dresses at a few shops and they tried the colour i wanted and it looked shocking, they were just too pale to wear that colour- Ended up with a pinky red colour (lipstick). I'm glad the bridesmaids dresses were one of the first things chosen as i had to change the colour scheme!

    Hi everyone,

I've always known my colour would be red - its my favourite colour so regardless of what else happened on my wedding day - Red was the colour from I was small.

I wanted a red dress, but the only one the shop had I couldn't try on (I was too fat LOL) but I tried on my dress and that was it! My dress was ivory with silver beading and swarovski crystals.

H went to the kilt shop knowing that his kilt would need to go to with red, he's initially wanted reangers tartan, which has red in it but when he got to the kilt shop he saw 2 silver tartans so he picked on of them.

There you have it red, ivory and silver!

    Luv Victoria

    xx

Red is my fave colour but my H2B actually suggested it first. I loved the idea - even when he did admit it was because the colour was because its the same as his beloved Liverpool FC lol We getting married on st, Georges day as well so it ties in nicely x

I really didn't have any colour in mind but knew I def wanted a strong colour as hate pastel shades.........went out shopping with the BMs to see what suited them best and ended up with a teal blue colour........Its a nightmare to match though so have kept everything else silver and white with touches of the teal blue here and there.

Haven't decided yet, but it will be dictated by which tartan h2b chooses, and which dress my sister (CBM) likes that matches it. i'm not bothered about which flowers i have (in that i love so many different types, i can't decide) so will just find something that matches.

Was toying with gold and dark red at first, but started to worry that it might look a bit "wintery" for May, so like Nutsy I opted for teal (with ivory) as I just love the colour.

However, as with Nutsy, it's an absolute nightmare of a colour to get anything in, so I'm starting to wish I'd gone for aqua instead!

H2B still hasn't decided whether he's going for a grey or chocolate brown suit yet, so once he's made his mind up I'll either go with silver or chocolate accessories for my bridesmaid.
