How did you decide on your menu's?

LauraJaneRush, 19 April, 2010 at 11:38 Posted on Planning 0 8

I have just received a copy of the menus and need to decide what to have, we can have 2 choices for each course, now here is my dilemma

My h2b's family are from Trinidad and Africa and like spicy food, my family do not like spicy food.

So would you

a) let each set of parents choose a course each,

b) ask for their preferences and include our own

c) no idea!!!

Such problems! lol, any advice? x

Option B sounds good. I wouldn't necessarily let them choose as I would want a say in it as well but it's always good to get an idea of what other people would like.

    Hi

    Hmmmm

I think you will have to have one course catered to OH's side and one course catered for your side. though personally I would love the chance to try something different so it's tricky one !!

    Good Luck !

Hmm. Tough one - can you take both sets along for a tasting? If not, I would choose yourself, but bear in mind the kind of foods that most of your guests (not just your respective sets of parents) will eat. But definitely push for a tasting if you can - I thought I was going to choose something completely different to what I've ended up with but the tasting swayed me.

Its your wedding - you choose what you like.

If your wedding is in the summer i would be weary about having anything super spicey - there is nothing worse than a spicey dinner on a hot day!

I had a sililar dilemma but it was a vast amount of veggies and vegan and meat eaters and i didnt know who to please everyone

so i sent them all out menu choices with the Invites and its a bit of hassle letting everyone have there own choices and combos but it makes everyone happy

if you have a lot of people coming from abroad tou can send them a menu choices email then it would even save you typing up on the comp what they are having

Thanks everyone, we're getting married in October. I think we will show both sets of parents and see what each side prefer- say top 3 choices and then h2b and I will make the decision!

    prepare for unhappiness from mil!!

can you have a choice of 2 mains on the day? for an extra £1 per head we can have this so decided it would be the best idea for us. My dad does not at all entertain the notion of chicken or turkey, and there are other guests who I know wont touch red meat. so rather than offend some-we're going for the turkey and ham and roast beef choices. On the day they will ask guests as they are being seated and during the starter what they would like.

We can have a choice of 2 for each course, we have to put the options in the invitations and they decide when they rsvp.

Once my parents finally get back from being stranded in San Francisco I think we will go through the menus and decide that side then discuss it with the inlaws and see what happens! x

well if i were you i would pick 1 for each culture. I have a friend from trinadad and she used to make me some amazing meals that aren't spicy. But then again shes probably been in the UK longer than she ever was in trinadad. You may be able to get them to incorporate some trinadian themes with the meal. Like some rice as a side order or somethilg like that??

get your both sets of parents there and get them to honestly tell you what food they would like, or that they think would suit most people, out of the ones you and your OH prefer. Not sure if that makes much sense!!
