How did you decide.... (underwear)

2013_Bride_, 30 June, 2013 at 09:48 Posted on Planning 0 9

Whether to wear a bra with your dress?

The shop suggested I try mine without, which is what I've been doing since.

Its too big so hard to tell whether it will be OK when fitted?!

My dress has a low-ish back, and I'd rather not worry about finding a bra etc.

Feel like maybe the only person who can advise is my seamstress, but as my 1st appointment with here is my fitting as well, I need to go prepared!

Does anyone have any guidance on what dresses you can / can go without a bra for?

I was going without initially. I have a sweetheart neckline with quite a low back too and just thought that it would be better without. When I went to try it on when it arrived in the shop it didn't feel right without one so when I went for my first fitting with the seamstress I took a strapless bra - just a standard one and it felt much better with it so I am now going for a bra. You can also have the option to put a bra in some dresses so maybe ask about that option too.

    Hi,

At my bridal shop they said they can adjust the inside of the top of my dress so it's like a built in bra, if that makes sense. Might b worth asking Smiley smile

My dress has an internal corset, so I won't need a bra. Which is good as strapless bras annoy me!

I thought I'd hate being bra-less but when I try it on I feel so secure and tight that I am going to do without.

I bought a couple of strapless bras to take to my fitting but when I put my dress on with them I felt too restricted as its quite tight fitting up top anyway so worked much better without a bra. I never would have thought I'd go bra less but when I've got it on you would never know as it feels so secure.

I think ultimately how you decide is by trying it on and seeing how comfortable you feel.

I have big knockers and would NEVER normally go without a bra but my dress had an internal corset which was adjusted to fit me perfectly so there was no need and I felt perfectly 'safe'

I haven't even tried on any dresses yet, can't imagine not wearing a bra with one but everyone says the support is great in some dresses so if it's comfortable enough i'd maybe go without..you could try both with n without n see whats comfortable, and if you're worried about it showing with the low back you could maybe get it sewn onto the dress so you don't have to worry? Sure you'll find whats right for you though Smiley smile xx

Have you thought about a basque? I've got massive boobs (34G!) and wearing a strapless dress with sheer lace overlay so wouldn't have been able to wear a normal bra - I always find strapless bras give me quad-boob effect! I bought a beautiful basque at Rigby and Peller for £80 which holds me in as well - after the wedding I'm going to wear in with maxi dresses!

Thanks all. Think I'm going bra-less! I have a small-ish chest (B/C) and I've not felt uncomfortable when I've had my dress on without one - and its too big at the mo!

Basque wouldn't go under my dress (fit and flare style).

Just seen a photo of a bride on google and you can see her bra.

    She is standing side-ways!

Made me think oh gosh, but then I thought imagine if she had no bra!!!!!

Please someone reassure me that my seamstress should fit that part of my dress so well to me that I have no chance of flashing anything?!

I bought bridal underwear for my dress fitting and have now decided I'm going bra-less. The bridal shop assures me that there will be plenty of support in my dress once fitting correctly and I'm a 32E xxx
