Like Claire we looked at about 20 venues and ours ticked so many of our boxes and they were the good on the price.. when you see many venues you can see where you are being ripped off and ours weren't so another plus point!!

I one place in mind that I liked and it was cheap!! But there was something missing

Then I went for a viewing at the last one thinking it was too expensive and i was only going to be polite to a friend who said have a look.............and i started shaking and filling up with tears because it was perfect.

It's still too expensive ?..........but we both love it so it's the overtime train for me after my dissertation is done!!

    Afternoon All,

We looked at 4 different venues on the web but only viewed 2. The 1st one was a hotel and would have had another 5 weddings going on at the same time as our (so did not want any other brides sharing my venue). The 2nd one we looked at we loved and the added bonus was it met with our guest requirments so we paid the deposit.

Mine is a newly built hotel and there was a wedding fair on, me and my mum went (before i as engaged!!) to have a nose at the new hotel and we both fell in love with it!!! I told my H2B how nice it was and not long after he proposed. We went to see it together and he loved it just as much as me - so we booked there and then. The only date they had available for summer 2012 was 2nd June - the exact date we wanted!! must have been fate ?

We'd viewed a few hotels and were considering booking one of them. Then we went to a friend's wedding at our venue and that was it, we just looked at each other and knew we wanted to get married there. It was way way over budget, but we knew we could afford it as we had plenty of time to save.

Basically, it was just a feeling. I loved the fact it was sole use, the grounds, the waterfall, the reception room...just everything about it. And as we were guests, we could really see how well the day ran so knew the staff were very professional.

Its weird, we looked at loads of venues that were a 40 minute drive or more away from us and didnt realise we had one right on our doorstep until someone mentioned it. We just knew as soon as we walked in that it was for us. The house is very old, 16th century and very gorgeous inside and out. It has the most calmest serene atmosphere inside and we could picture ourselves in the dining room getting married. When I took my Mum to look around she commented on how lovely and calm it felt too. It also has lovely gardens with a waterfall and our guests are able to look around the house as much as they like Smiley smile

We had a very distinct look that we wanted. Only found two on the internet that seemed to make us excited. Visited our fave, booked it the next day. Is it perfect? Maybe not, it's not glossy, it's more jumbly art deco with a faded glamour. Is it perfect for us? Yes.

We looked at lots online but this was the first (and only) one we visited. They were not into the hard sell and it is family run. The wedding planner there was lovely which just made the decision for us. Also it's really close to where we live and you get exclusive use.

Considering how fussy I am about detail, I really wasn't that bothered about the venue. We're getting married abroad and went there for a holiday before we were officially engaged, although knew we'd be getting married there sometime soon. We googled wedding venues in the area and found 3. The first one we went to was in the middle of a theme park, so quickly discounted that one and the 2nd was closed. We loved the 3rd one, but they were changing ownership before our wedding date, so couldn't commit to the booking. On our way out of that venue, we saw there was a hotel next door, so we dropped in there, thought it was nice then booked it after we got engaged. I wouldn't say it was anything special; in fact, there were quite a few things about it that I wasn't keen on!

Good job really, as they cancelled our booking a couple of months ago due to refurbishment, so we have to go out and find another venue now. This time, I've done a lot more research.

I couldn't stop smiling when I looked around it - it was the last one we looked at out of 6, I'd liked others and even provisionally booked one, but I just fell in love with this one. And the wedding planner was totally lovely and spent hours with us without giving us any hard sell, just telling us lots of good stuff about weddings there. When we got out I was squeaking to the other half, "can we have it, can we, can we" like a small child after an ice cream. Fortunately he loved it too...

We looked at LOADS on the internet and in person. Our venue is the only one that Mr Apples walked in to and went... 'WOW' a real gut reaction. My mind whizzed with ideas of how we could have it and so did his.

2 weeks later we took our Mums, had a look around and they both cried... RESULT!!! They felt it reflected our personalities and said they couldn't imagine anywhere more perfect. Just what we were going for!!!

    When you know... you know!!!!

Ours wasn't a very romantic realisation. We'd driven ourselves loopy looking for venues we liked and could afford, and in the end our venue was on our "not at all favourite but we'll look anyway to cross it off the list" list. So we went and found that the place itself was much nicer in the flesh than the photos made it look, and they were able to tweak the package to suit our needs and budget. That was it really. It ticked the boxes and was better than anywhere else we'd looked!

I wanted Polhawn Fort in Cornwall for my dream wedding. I just fell in love with that and it took a long time for me to accept that i wouldn't get married there!

We did some research online on venues and didnt visit the ones out of our price range. In the end tho, we went with the one we had our hearts set on in the first place! I knew it was the one because out of the 2 we visited i had butterfiles in my tummy all the way round ours and didnt at the other one. x

We knew that we wanted a barn and there were only a few options in the local area, so that helped narrow it down. What really helped us decide was that we just felt so chilled and relaxed looking around the barn we chose and we both could really imagine getting married there and enjoying the day. Staff were fab too and very passionate about weddings and helpful - we knew they would do a great job. On the more logical side, it also offered everything we wanted for the wedding reception, like exclusive use, a lot of outdoor space, a quiet bar area for guests in addition to the main barn. We couldn't be happier with our choice.
