How did you meet your h2b/husband/w2b/wife/partner

The Sock Chicken, 3 August, 2008 at 19:57 Posted on Planning 0 43

Just because I am nosy and have enjoyed the threads with photos and the ones about jobs etc.

I will go first...

I met mine through facebook. I was friendly with a mate of his, added him to facebook, and my h2b saw my picture, poked me and sent me a message, and that was that!

We was both working for Alliance and Leciester at the time. I really liked him, thought he was with someone so just left it. Until my friend told him i liked him, and asked him for his number (all very school girly isn't it He He) i texted him, and the rest they say is history!

I met mine through a chatroom. He said Hi and then we started chatting. Texting and talking on the phone followed. He's from se england and I'm in Scotland. Although he was already moving up here for work anyway. We chatted for about a month before we met up and have been together ever since.

We've never told anyone else how we really met cos I think that some of my friends might have found it a bit odd initially, but it just shows that things happen in funny kind of ways!

We both worked at the same place...he sent me a random email saying I was 'looking stunning' that day then apologised for being so forward. We spent a 6 months 'courting' in secret...sneaky kisses in the lifts and longing glances in the staff canteen. That was 5 years ago now and we no longer work for the same company (I left). Tee heee...makes me smile just thinking about it...good post!

met mine through a blind date, after a series of really random events! was skint (never used to be!), ended up going to dodgier local pub out of the two in the village (only been in a couple of times!) friend (who hadnt been out for months) copped off with a lad 10 years younger than her (not her type at all!), who was friends with my ex- (who i hadnt seen for over 2 years until that night), then set me up with his mate 10 days later!

they got married last year and we get married next july!!

couldnt believe it! i am normally so organised and dont go with random things or other peoples opinions!

Lots of fluffy threads around tonight!

We were at university together - we lived in halls together in our first year and got on really well, but both had partners at the time so nothing ever happened. At the start of third year he told my flatmate he fancied me, I agreed to meet up and...the rest is history! We clicked straight away, said 'I love you' after 2 weeks and were planning to move in together after uni after a month. ?

I met my H2B at my previous company. I remember seeing him when I went for my first interview and thinking how I just wanted and needed to be with him...something just clicked!

Imagine my excitement when I got the job and one of my first tasks was to meet up with him to find out what his job and responsibilities were etc... 2 weeks later we had our first kiss and 1 month after I started my job we were inseparable!! The rest is, as they say, history!

We don't work together anymore though. I was constantly distracted looking at him! I work for another company now.

We met through a dating agency that you chat to people via text through a central system. Initially i wasn't interested til i saw his pic - and asked him if he was fre that friday ?

He moved in after 2 months but my daughter asked him to stay forever after 3 meetings and my parents invited him to stay over xmas with me on their first so i guess my family knew we were meant to be together before we did ?

We met while working on a cruise ship 11 years ago. He was in a band that played in the 'disco' and I was the singer in the productions shows and cabaret *cringe*

He was weird looking, with the strangest dress sense ever (i.e. none) and I was running away to sea to get away from my pig of a boyfriend. Neither of us were looking for someone at all so we got to know each other as mates. He is the single funniest person I've ever met and has no ego. I'd often find him sitting in a corner on his own soldering or wiring something and I just wanted to talk to him more and more, I loved that he was completely happy in his own company.

We moved in to my cabin together after 3 weeks and when the 6 month contract ended I moved to Scotland to live with him. We married 6 years ago and now have Wee Braw (nearly 4).

We worked for BT and were both unhappily married at the time. It took a while for us to get together though as my "friend" who worked for him told him I was happily married and told me he fancied her! However, after a few drinks the truth came out and we've been together since - 19 years.

I used to work with mine when I had my first proper "saturday job" as a christmas temp.

Tricked him out of his mobile number, pestered him for a while when my contract was up and then eventually got a text saying "I'm guessing you like me more than a friend!!" The rest, as they say, is history!

I met my H online, the first night we actually properly talked on yahoo messenger was the night we met in person too (I was bored of typing after 5 hours so I asked him to come over, and he did! luckily neither of us was an axe murderer!) We got married just over 3 years later.

I meant my hubby whilst on holiday with the girls in Ayia Napa!! We had a holiday romance IYKWIM ? When we got back to the UK he rang me and then came to see me for a weekend, since that weekend (despite then being 150 miles apart) we have only ever spent 2 weekends apart (including our Hen/Stag weekend) and have been together for 5 years.

I guess i came back from cyprus with the ultimate souvenir ?

I thought that a lot of peeps on here might have met online. I guess its much more common these days. My friends would have just found it quite strange at the start I think. They would never dream of doing anything like that.

Met h2b in paris - we were both on our year abroad working as teaching assistants. we didn't get together until a few months after we got back from france as i was with someone else, and needed a few months to realise that the ex was a loser, and h2b was my soulmate (aaaaahhhhhh). we got together when i went on a weekend to glasgow to see him, and then didn't see him again for another 3 months! (due to impending degree final exams...) moved to scotland to be with him after a year, and 6 and a half years later here we are xxx

At work. I was his boss. And engaged (unhappily I might add) to someone else?. We were als a bit cautious as theres a six year age gap between us (I'm the older).

We were great mates until we both realised that there was more to it than friendship, so I did the honourable thing and broke up with my then fiance and we gave it a shot and it worked out brilliantly!

I also met mine online. I had seen his profile quite a few times, but kept looking at his photo and thinking, there is no way he would be interested in me, so didnt take it any further. Then one night feeling really fed up, thought what the heck, so sent him an IM. He replied back and we chatted that first night for four hours, we just hit it off straight away. Each night I would come home from work and couldnt wait to see if he was online. Then exchanged mobile numbers and sent texts during the day. Then one night when I was away with work he phoned me, I went into a complete tizz but we still got on just as well talking as on line. We met up finally two weeks later, and I couldnt believe it when he told the vicar at our "interview" that he fell in love with me the first time he saw me ?

Apparently that night I sent him an IM he was just about to cancel his membership so really believe it was fate

Like others tho, the family dont know the real way we met!

I worked with h2b and was actually trying to get him to go out with my sister, they are the same age and i thought they'd get on ok. But on a drink fuelled night out i kissed him after he said he didn't fancy my sister and thought i was much prettier and we've been inseperable ever since.

I met him on holiday in Gran Canaria, on a hol I was meant to be going with my ex. He broke up with me a week before the hols and one of my friends stepped in. My now OH was there with his mates in our hotel bar and invited us clubbing that night. He pestered me all week for my address and tel no but I really wasnt interested at that time (i was off men for some reason lol) and my friend gave it to him.

I went home and he sent me a huge bouquet of roses and a message to call him so I did and we are together 9 years later and planning our wedding for next year

It was 1997. I was 16 and trying to get into the local indie/rock club but got turned away. He (then 23) sneeked me and my friends in the exit. We snogged a bit that night but he was worried about the age gap. I never thought i would see him again (he lived in Scotland at the time, whilst I was in Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire). Then 2 weeks later he tracked me down through friends and said he couldn't stop thinking about me ?

Weridly enough I rarely think about the age gap these days (I'm 27, he's 34). Oh and we get married in 5 days time ?

I think it's actually pretty infamous among some of the more long-standing hitchers?

I got married a few years ago and am now divorced. At the time my OH was working as a press photographer (had been for many years). A friend of mine was working with him as a journalist and suggested Rob for our wedding photos as he also did wedding photography as a sideline. So I met with him and he did my wedding photographs.

Marriage didn't last very long and when I had separated from my exH I was arranging a night out with my friend (the journalist) over the phone and when he (my friend) hung up he was talking to Rob and said "Do you remember Lucy? You took her wedding photos" Rob did remember me and my friend explained to him that I was now separated and asked Rob if he wanted to come out with us too. He did and the rest is history.

Not quite as selacious as it first sounds ? And he's now working for himself doing wedding photography and randomly my journalist friend is just moving to Bangkok.

I met my h2b on line, had met a couple before him which where not good. I swear the one before h2b was married to his cat or doing something else lol

He had gone on line as a bet, and I had gone on line as my friend was getting married and we where drinking to celebrate a little bit of dutch courgage and they did my profile for me. After a week I thought would change it to me, my friend told me about another dating website which I joined as her sister had met her husband on it.

My mum panicked as I was going out 1 night in bad weather, so had to tell her. Shocked at 1st but then OK when I said people know where I am etc and I text and ring when there etc. H2b emailed me 1st, which went well then a week later spoke on the phone for hours, still says I talk to much now. He then went away for a week and we met the following. I went round the round about 4 times because I acuately had butterflys. We got on great, and planned to meet again. Had to tell step dad he found out and panicked meeting strange men this way (if he had of know before would have sat in car park watching) He did actually go and see where he lived before I went there for our 3rd date! We did not meet again for a few weeks because of his work and then he picked me up from 1st aid, the lads from work stayed until he appeared the rest they say is history.

His family still don't know and some of our friends don't some people have guessed because he is oneside of cheshire and I was on the other. We have been together 3 years now and not looked backed since. Thank god for alcohol, or as he says should never of bought the computer lol

    Aw, some lovely stories!

I met my h2b first 10 years ago when i was 16 - he joined the climbing club i've been a member of since i was wee. We were both with other people though, and just chatted occassionally on club meets and things and got on well, but there's a bit of an age gap (11 years!) and then i got engaged to my ex and he always had a girlfriend.

Cut to 8 years down the line and I had just broken up with my ex, as had he. We chatted for ages at a club dinner, and started e-mailing and texting a bit. Then after a bit too much to drink on a meet one night, I decided i needed a bit of a fling to 'move on' from the above ex and asked him if he'd like to share my bunk ? (which is totally unlike me, as I am the least confident person in the world!)!! Some fling...after about a month i moved in, we got engaged a year later and we're getting married in January, almost 2 years to the date of our first kiss ? I think it's really strange that he was there all along but it took us years to work out that we were meant to be together!

I met my H2B when i was dating his sister-in-laws brother, when i met him i thought he was strange as he was very quiet and would just look at me, he was very shy, bless. Anyway things obviously didnt work out between me and my then current BF. We didnt really keep in contact but did occasionaly bump into each other on the town, but still didnt think of him in that way, then 6 years ago i met up with a friend and who was tagging along with my friend but my H2B, we chatted for a couple of hours, exchanged numbers and text constantly, got together a few days after (6 years to the day actually) and been together ever since.

We have the most beautiful daughter and we are getting married in less that a year and i cant wait to be his wife.

    zoe
