How did you start planning your wedding cake?

LuxuriousBrownCars79485, 4 January, 2018 at 21:34 Posted on Planning 0 1

Hi, I'm trying to understand the best way to choose a wedding cake maker -

so if you already have one booked, how did you go about looking for options? Have you found it complicated or easy to brief cake makers? did you get all the information you wanted easily? What's been the hardest thing for you?(or maybe it was really easy)

and if you are just starting to look, how are you finding the whole thing? thanks, help much appreciate Smiley smile

I found cake quite easy, although it took a while to finalise the exact design I made a Pinterest board or cakes I thought looked good and kept any nice pictures out of wedding magazines. Most cake makers do a wide range of flavours so we had a tasting and chose our favourites, which we were sure all guests would like at least 1 or 2 of.

We ended up having a 5 tier cake which was about twice the amount we needed, but I preferred the look of a big cake and we had lunch the next day for pretty much all our wedding guest and then froze the leftovers.

If you choose a specialist shop, (for example Pretty Gorgeous Cakes is where we got ours) they’ll have enough expertise to recommend what you need.

    Cake tasting is fun, enjoy!!

We talked with each other about different options and what we thought would work best for us. Once we knew what we wanted we approached several cake makers near our venue (we're not getting married nearby) and none of them could do what we wanted. It was really frustrating as we knew what we wanted and felt we would have to compromise on this. We then went to a local cake maker and they could offer exactly what we wanted without compromise. This was a huge relief, I've got to be honest. Good luck with the cake hunting!!
