How do you store jewellery?

Clairy, 28 November, 2008 at 11:10 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 8

This weekend I hope to have a proper sort out, get organised, give things to the charity shop and have a proper clean up.

In my bathroom cupboard I have loads of jewellery that doesn't fit into a box - it's nothing expensive, mainly necklaces and beads that I buy from clothes shops etc. It's a mess and it drives me mad.

Any ideas?

Present from SIL last Christmas, I wasn't keen at the time but I've found it really useful and it looks less tacky when all the jewellery is on it!!! It holds a lot of stuff too. For my earrings I have a little wooden stand with holes drilled in that I bought from Ebay for about a fiver.

What I've done is attach two hooks, one each side of my shelf unit above my dressing table in my bedroom and hang all my beads/necklaces etc off them. For little hooks, I can attach a surprising amount to them, including beaded belts. HTH.

I have one of these http://www.aplaceforeverything.co.uk/shop/index.php?page=833&offset=5&ret=425. The only problem I find is that if I keep small earrings in the bottom then dusting it is difficult. I could do with something for earrings.

We have sliding mirror doors in our room, one of which opens onto a wall (pointless but it would have looked very off without it. When the door is shut there is about 3" gap between the door & wall so I stuck the drawing pin type tacs into the wall and hung everything on. Looks good and keeps everything tidy!

Earings - I only wear/have one pair! Anything to chunky to hand up goes in a plastic emptied out took box think from homesase (the ones you get a selection of screws in).

I have an acrylic box from Muji where I keep all my earrings. I took the compartments out of the bottom drawer and keep my necklaces in there - they get a bit tangled, though, so I need to look for a different solution.

I put my day to day earrings and rings in a pretty saucer type thing on the window sill, posh stuff or stuff I don't wear often in a traditional jewellery box, and my beads, necklaces and bangles on one of those jewellery stand/tree things - I got a really cute silver one with owls on from Urban Outfitters when I was in Mercar.

I bought loads of cheap plastic stick on hooks and stuck them to the inside of one of my wardrobe doors, then hung all my necklaces on them. Works quite well, though sometimes a hook falls off and you have to re-stick it.

Rings and earrings in an acrylic box with drawers from Muji, necklaces and bangles on a charity shop mug stand which works well.
