How does the dress sit after pressing?

Lilacbouquet, 10 July, 2017 at 15:34 Posted on Planning 0 3

I do love my wedding dress and can't wait to wear it, however I would like it to be a little fuller in the skirt at the front and sides like it is on the lady on the designers website.

Am I right in thinking dresses are a bit flat while they are in their bags and when they are steamed and pressed they fluff out a little? If not, am I best budgeting for another layer of netting to fill it out slightly when i go to my fitting?? The fitting is a while away yet but I do plan ahead a lot.

I've never heard of them being pressed making them fluffier (if anything I'd have thought the opposite).

Does the model on the website have a petticoat? That's usually how they make them fluffier, also a lot of the photos on bridal sites are heavily photoshopped!

Oh and final thing is that the samples tend to be a little different as they're worn a lot. I fitted perfectly into a size 14 sample, but had to have some let out/taken in when mine arrived as it wasn't so 'stretched out'

The model will be wearing a petticoat Smiley smile

My dress had like a million layers of underskirt, but I still wore a petticoat for a bit extra Smiley smile

Hmm okay, sounds like I need a petticoat. Someone in a different bridal shop mentioned extra layers can be added into the dress itself, I guess that depends how a dress is made as to whether you can or not.

Thanks, I'll bear this in mind ?

A petticoat will also help you to walk without stepping on the dress and keep you cooler if it's a big dress Smiley smile definitely the way to go!
