How important was/is the bridal suite of your venue?

laurafish, 24 February, 2013 at 09:01 Posted on Planning 0 17

Hi everyone,

Not really looking for advice as such, just a bit of a conversation starter.

If you are having/had a venue where you are staying in the bridal suite, how important to you is/was how the suite looked?

I ask mainly because we viewed our first venue yesterday, and the bridal suite didn't wow us, but we both felt that it didnt really matter to us too much. So I was just wondering how much it mattered to other couples?

    Hiya,

Our venue has a farmhouse alongside it which we are staying in with family and friends which is nice but, in all honesty, the bridal suite isn't amazing. We fell in love with the venue though so it doesn't bother us at all-particularly as we need to leave pretty early the next day.

    Em :-)

Ours is stunning but we will only be spending from midnight till 10am in it so it wasn't our biggest priority, would still have booked venue if it was average, it's only a bed after all once you are in it you will either be shagging or sleeping and in either eventuality you won't care how stunning the room is, unless you stop in the middle of the throws of passion to discuss the carving on the four poster bed! Hehehehe.

Our venue doesn't have accommodation and we haven't even looked at any yet but have agreed we probably should.

Not at all. My venue had no accommodation apart from a gorgeous bridal suite but we didn't stay in it as I preferred to be back at the bog standard Ramada hotel with everyone else!

I did get ready in it though.

Not majorly important to us but we will be staying in it as part of the experience and I am in love with my venue so I don't think I would want to leave it the same night as the reception finishes at 11!

The bridal suite is rather nice too though Smiley smile

    Hey!

A good question - for us it was Venue all the way!!

Once we found out it was £300 for the Bridal Suite, we decided to opt for a double room as we're only staying the night and getting married in our local church beforehand. That said, our venue is Boutique Hotel 5* so each room is different and we hand picked our double room.

I haven't even seen it yet! So I'd have to say not :-) ill be getting ready at my mum's house so it'll be a place for me and my OH to crash from about 1am to breakfast time!

My honeymoon hotels matter more to me I think. I love our venue and wouldn't let the suite change my mind. The other place we were contemplating had a gorgeous suite but the venue wasn't up to much!

I don't actually like the bedrooms at our venue (the suites are lovely but the £3k per night price tag is about out of our reach)

We do get a complimentary room for our wedding night though so fingers crossed for a suite.

So in answer to your question no not too bothered wont be spending much time in it anyway!

Not important at all- will be too tired or drunk to notice it I imagine!

The night before I am staying at a hotel near church with my Ma and BMs and we have booked a 'Penthouse' it isn't really that fancy but it has plenty of space for us to get ready together.

Our venue didn't have a proper bridal suite so we didn't stay there - we stayed in a hotel about a mile away. Picked it because it looked nice and had a good special offer on - so we actually ended up staying 2 nights for the price of one! That was nice as it meant we didn't have to ship out by 10am on the day after the wedding.

As long as the room isn't horrible, I wouldn't be too fussed about it being perfect. It's a minor consideration in the grand scheme of things.

Didn't even think about it to be honest. Might see if I can look at it the next time we are there, but we've stayed at the hotel before and the room we had was lovely.

It was irreverent to us. The room we had was nice in a cliched sort of way. TBH we were both so drunk that we wouldn't have really cared where we slept.

It was nice to have a bath together before bed (it helped my achey feet too!) and comfy bed was good. We were in ours from midnight to about 9ish. Aside from that, it didn't matter. We were not there to watch tv or unpack loads of clothes

Not very but it was really important to me that the venue had accommodation that we could spend our wedding night in, but I wasn't fussed by what it looked like, etc. In fact, we have booked the bridal suite but haven't actually seen it.

Its part of our package and lovely so we are going for it, I have booked it for the night before also for ease, as its has 2 bathrooms and a living room, so we can all get ready together but not under each others feet.

Looks like everyone else has very similar opinions then!

For us it is definitely important that there is some form of accommodation for not only us but our guests too, but what it looks like isn't all that important, as we won't be in there for that long, it's just somewhere convenient to stay.
