Not 100% sure but think it's fine as long as she returns before her passport expires.

It should be fine but may be best checking with the airline. We recently flew with Jet2 with only about 25 days left on H passport and they just told us to be careful to remember to renew it.

I think you need 6 months left on your passport. I've been refused checkin as I had 5 months, 3 weeks left.

I would recommend she get a new one now seeing as she needs one in June anyway.

Could you call airline/airport and just double check? I know some places are funny and want you to have maybe 3/6 months.

I'm only going by my own experience when I went to Germany last year. I had about 2 months left on my passport and was able to fly with no problems.

Think i better get her to call the airline - just to be on the safe side then ?

I thought it depended on the country. If she's back before her passport expires, she should be OK. I'd second checking with the airline, or the FCO website to make sure.

The First Choice web site says

Passport Information: You will require a full 10-year British passport valid for at least 6 months after your return to the UK.

I thought you could go anywhere in Europe up to the expiration date, but need 6 months for visiting other continents.

I don't understand why these places want you to have months left. The passport is still valid and you are in effect having to waste it because they refuse you entry.
I'm sure there's some good reason, but I don't know it.

Re my above comment we happened to notice the night before we were due to fly to Prague that you MUST have 3 months (I think) left on your passport to fly to C.Republic - cue me doing a mad dance, screaming and lots of ? before finally getting through to Jet 2's customer service only to be told this is just a warning but it is actually ok to still fly as long as the passport is valid. I nearly landed down the other end of the phone to him. I was very ? and [V] at the same time!

For most European countries you can travel right up until your passport runs out, but some say you have to have 3 or 6 months. Definitive info can be found on the fco.gov.uk website under "travel advice".

It isn't up to the airline but some can be pretty dim about entry regulations. Background is that if you are refused entry (and I'm really not sure how an EU country could do this to an EU passport holder), they have to pay a fine and pay to get you back.

PSML at the First Choice website. Can you not book with them if you're a furrener then? ?

Most places say 6 months left on your passport. You can travel right up to it's final day of validity but if something happened to you while out of the UK or your flight got diverted for example, you wouldn't be allowed to fly out of country X until you've got a new or emergency passport from the British Embassy there.

Is it like the MOT or Road Fund Tax, where if you renew within a certain time early they add it on so you don't lose out?
