How many B2B's want to lose weight?

Chidders, 4 February, 2011 at 11:21 Posted on Planning 0 40

Hi All,

I have noticed that quite a few hitchers are getting their dress really early. Unfortunately as you can see from my ticker, I want to lose 4 stone before my wedding day, fortunately I have 16 months until the big day. But I want to have lost at least 2 stone before trying any dresses on.

I just wondered if anyone was in the same boat x

I want to lose weight, but seem to be in denial about how close the wedding is and keep surviving on chocolate! I wouldn't mind but I only need to lose a stone to be happy with my body so I am just plain lazy. ?

I am sure 2 stone is do-able in say 6 months? And then you can dress shop before working on the other 2 stone before a fitting? Good luck!

I've lost almost a stone and would like to lose another stone before the big day. I am concerned about my dress though, but then again, it is quite snug at the moment.

I am in the process of losing weight, and by September it will probably equal to two stone. I am hopefully going to order my dress tomorrow and have already set up an excellent seamstress to make all the adjustments necessary.

TBH I haven’t yet come across a bride-to-be who isn’t trying to lose weight….those damn photos stick around for a looooong time!

Definitely want to find my waist before trying on any dresses! Lacking motivation though, I am *really* not good at exercise. ?

Chidders, I joined WeightWatchers a couple of years ago and after 1 year I had lost 52 pounds. An average of a pound a week although I did have my ups and downs during the year. So it is totally achievable - and I am a total sweetie monster so, if I can do it, anyone can!

I've got to a stage now where I'm not so bothered about my weight as such - I'm working more on my shape and how my dress is going to look on the day. So lots of sit-ups and cycle crunches at the gym - woo hoo!!

(Don't get me wrong - if I could miraculously be a size 10 I would be delighted but it's just never going to be my body shape so better to work with what I've got)

I'm looking at toning up more than loosing weight, i've got 11lb left to loose, but ideally i want to be the same measurements as i was when i ordered my dress, previously i was a 34" Bust, 26" waist & 38" Hips...and that was August last year...my goal is for the end of April (so 1lb a week)

My OH always does this stupid, insane diet for one week and he looses up to 10lb in the week....but i find men loose weight a lot lot easier than women!

I had lost a stone before ordering my dress - and ordered it in a size that was a bit tight (but a lace up back) Ive now lost nearly another stone and want to lose another 8lb after that.

Im going to try my dress on end of March so Im hoping I have the majority of that off - a few pound isnt going to make much difference.

Ive been working really hard in gym - upping it from 3 times to 5 times a week including a personal training session. I seen a real difference in my body shape especially my arms - I dont want big bingo wings or extra boobs sticking out my back!

My target weight will hopefully make me a comfortable size 12 which i hope i will be able to maintain ?

    Hi girls,

Yes I am trying to lose weight too!! I need to lose a lot but I'm trying not to think of how much or it will be so overwhelming and I'll get stressed out so I'm just making myself little goals. That's why my ticker says I need to lose 12 pounds. That's a month goal. If and when I lose that I'll restart the ticker to another 12 pounds and so on!!

I'm really finding it difficult at the moment. Back in November I went on a health/exercise kick and was losing at least a pound a day but I gave up after a week lol. Then Christmas came and I put back on the weight and now even though I'm exercising for an hour a day and eating healthily I'm still putting on like half a pound a day so far!

    xx

I am also trying to lose weight and idealy i would like to have lost 2 stone by May when i want to buy my dress (altho i am off to try some dresses on in a couple of weeks just for an idea of what i would like) and i have lost 8lb already since the 4th Jan when i started.

I have been following WW but i need to add exercise into the mix as i hope to tone up and get fit aswell as lose the weight. I think once the weather picks up a little i will do the Couch to 5k.

I wanted to lose 2 1/2 stone when we got engaged and I started dieting in August, so almost 6 months ago. I've now lost just over 2 stone, so I'm in the final stages - nobody told me this was the hardest part! I waited until I'd got to the 2 stone point before ordering my dress, so that I wouldn't need too many alterations. It was such a great feeling - when I started trying dresses on I needed a size 16 (and most samples didn't fit very well) and I ended up ordering a 12!

    Good luck everyone Smiley smile

I will need to lose weight to fit into my dress, as I bought it before i fell pregnant, so will need to lose my baby weight for my dress to fit.

Hoping being too busy looking after a newborn and 7 year old will mean no time to eat, and the dress will fit ?

I ideally would like to lose a stone or bit more before we get married. I am going to try dresses on next week- hoping then that it'll inspire me to do it properly. I dont want to lose too much, be a lower end of a size 12 rather than an upper.

I don't want to lose weight (luckily im happy with my size) but I do want to tone up a bit for the honeymoon so I don't look too squishy when I'm in my bikini ?. Keep meaning to join the gym but I have no money since I started paying out for wedding deposits every month. Have been doing pilates at home whenever I have a chance and walking absolutely everywhere in the mean time but my thighs still quadruple in size every time I sit down *sigh*

    Hi,

I have loads of weight to lose and started dieting the week after I got engaged! that was last August and I have 3.5 lb to go, I will then have lost 4 stone.

Unfortunately, I still have loads left to loose! I have ordered my dress two sized less than I needed at the time, that was two stone ago!

I have found someone who can alter it as required.

I would try some dresses and then speak to the staff to see what the recommend about ordering. I am sure your 4 stone is doable and GOOD LUCK!!!

I want to lose 5-6 stone! I am obsessed with dividing the pounds I need to lose with the weeks until the wedding to see exactly how many pounds a week I have to acheive. Currently it is 1.24lbs per week I am determined not to be a fat bride, I will only end up hating the pictures.

Definately putting any dress shopping off until I have lost atleast 3 stone!

    Good Luck Everyone! xxx

I want to lose about a stone by the time of the boudoir photo shoot I've booked in May (so about 3 months... should be doable). Then keep it off for the wedding in June! If I put it back on afterwards I won't be too bothered as I'm not that big (still not "overweight" according to the BMI) and hopefully will try for a baby at some point after the wedding so will put weight on anyway and therefore don't want to stress about it too much.

I want to lose another 22LB's, i'm 7lb down after 4 weeks though its officially weigh in day on monday so a few days left of my 4th week!!

I'm not just doing it for the wedding though, i was dieting before we got engaged as i had put weight on since meeting h2b......i'm also thinking further than the wedding as afterwards we are trying for a baby and i want my body in its best shape for that.

I am a bit worried about my dress, because its a fishtale....i dont really want to lose my shape!! lol

I joined Slimming World 2 1/2 weeks ago and have lost 10lbs-ish so far Smiley laugh My dress currently fits snuggly rather than comfortably and can be taken in up to 2 sizes, so I'm not rushing to lose massive amounts of weight. Eventually I want to get down to 10 stone but I'll be happy to just lose another stone between now and the wedding. I'm already much, much happier with my figure with the bit of weight I've already shifted.
