How many brides are DIYing the bouquets/flower arrangements?

My mum made my bouquet and it is artificial I'm afraid, but here's how it looks to give you an idea

Inkeddoll they are gorgeous! That's the thing with artificial flowers - you can make them in advance and they will continue to look beautiful for years after the wedding! I had silk flowers for my first marriage which were lovely (I didn't do them I got them done by a pro), so this time I want to do something different, otherwise I would consider artificial. If I do decide to do them I'm making a lot of extra work for myself but never mind! xx

I'm doing half and half. I'm having the bouquets and buttonholes done by a florist but we are doing the table decorations. My Mum's a bit of an amateur florist. We grew statice last summer which we dried and they'll form the basis of the table arrangements with some greenery cut the day before to pad them out. She'll actually enjoy doing them on the morning.

I'm going to have a go at making some arrangements myself, but the boquets etc will be done by professsionals! I have a go at making a boquest last year and it was really freakin' hard! All I'd say is, have a go first and see how you get on. Then remember that for really fresh looking flowers you will need to make them no more than two days before. Do you really want to be making bouquets of flowers two days before your wedding? I decided it was not for me! But I envy anyone who can do it.

I ended up going with paper flowers.

The whole lot cost way less then real flowers would.

Your quote sounds pretty average for floristry wedding flowers - try contacting a local flower farm instead! We did and she is doing some arrangements for us, we get to pick our flowers the week before literally from her fields, and put them In our country jugs ourselves.

I'm doing paper button holes and then I'm just having my own fresh bouquet which is going to be a gift from my OH's florist cousin. So we're spending very little on flowers. My BMs are holding fans instead of flowers. Fresh flowers are expensive which is a key reason we are hardly having any, your quote sounds pretty average from my experience.

Im buying the buttonholes from ebay as they are only a £1 each. I am making my bouquet and the bridesmaids flowers with sugar flowers and then we are just going to donate a few flowers in our colours to the lady that des the flowers in church and stringing up some bunting as is cheaper and looks really good xx

Wasnt sure if you were meaning me regarding the flowers, but we are just getting them from a local superstore (like Tesco etc) the day before the wedding. Cutting the stems at different lengths to make some shape and just using silver ribbon to tie together, whole bouquet will cost about £12 max
