How Many Days Off Before the Wedding?

Shelly70, 25 September, 2015 at 13:46 Posted on Planning 0 24

I'm starting to plan my holiday from work and just wondering how many days off before the wedding people are taking off. I was thinking of just taking the one day off before but not sure if I need a couple of days for any last minute emergencies. Something I need to think about ... !

Just wondered what other brides were doing?

I'm booking just the day before off. I am checking into the venue, having lunch with my parents and using the hotel's spa facilities (hopefully) before getting an early-ish night.

I'm only taking one day off before, but as my wedding is on a Sunday, that's Friday and Saturday off to sort everything out!

I'm kind of hoping not to take any... but I have a feeling this may change!

Really tight on holidays, and know I'll need odd dates and times off for registrar stuff as well.

I am planning on taking two days off and then getting married on the Friday. I think that should be enough, plus I know that my mum is planning on taking a week off either side of the wedding so will be on hand to deal with any last minute issues.

None as I'm pretty much sorted. Plus I get married on a Sunday. Fridays at my workplace are generally very quiet!

I'm taking the week of the wedding off because we live an hour away and pretty much doing everything ourselfs (with family help) and I work all weekend anyway so its only a few extra days for me. I'm also taking 2 weeks off after for honeymoon. So 3 weeks in total.

I may forget how to use my till when I get back. Lol.

I get married Next Saturday and I am having the Thursday and Friday off before the wedding day. Thursday I need to pick various bits up and get stuff sorted for the venue, and then the Friday is kind of a spare day in case I forget anything or need to do something really last minute! x

Thanks ladies. I'm thinking I should now take the Thursday and Friday off before our Saturday wedding. That way if I get last minute stuff done on the Thursday I can use the Friday to chill out and de-stress a bit LOL !!! ?

I'm doing at least 2. The Friday will be spent setting up, so I'd like at least one day to chill out beforehand! If I have any more will depend on what we end up doing with the honeymoon, and how many days I have left.

At the moment I've taken Monday- Wednesday off for our Thursday wedding. I'm still considering going in on the Monday as I don't get a lot of holidays and have taken 2 weeks off after the wedding as well, but my job is very high stress and the day before annual leave is always hell so I'd rather get that over on the Friday and hopefully have de- stressed by the wedding.

I took over a week off before the wedding because I had family and friends flying in. I arrived in the city we were getting married the Wednesday before the wedding to sort things out Thurs/Friday, and got married on the Saturday.

I took three days off before my Saturday wedding and I'm glad I did! We were doing a lot of diy so had quite a few bits and bobs to do, and it was nice to feel relaxed and have a few days to focus on everything rather than rushing around. To be honest I was useless the two days I was in work, lol, just had wedding stuff on my mind all the time and everyone kept asking me about it!

I had seven, the weekend before and then all the week of the wedding. There wasn't a lot to do, I just wanted to be relaxed and not still in work mode right before the wedding.

We're getting married on a Saturday and I'm planning on finishing work on the Tuesday. I'm having my hair coloured on the Wednesday so I don't have any re-growth in the pictures and it settles a bit before the big day! The Thursday will be spent picking up the suits and finishing any things I may have forgotten! With the Friday being a bit of a pamper day nails etc with the bridesmaids and mums and a dinner the night before with them and some other family members.

The only real perk of being a teacher (aside from spending a lot of time with children of course) is the summer holidays. We've booked our wedding for a month into the summer holidays, so I will have lots of time to de stress and do the DIY things that I really want to do.

Our wedding is 7th May next year, it's the Saturday after May Day bank holiday so it'll be a 4 day week at work anyway, then I'm planning on taking the Thursday and Friday off, H2B is planning on taking just the Friday. I'm hoping that most things will be done before then. Fingers crossed. We've then got two weeks off afterwards for our honeymoon :-)

Oh HappyBlue - I didn't realise may 7 is after a BH - bonus. I'm also taking thurs & fri off. Hotel will do all of the setting up, but need to get stuff to them, have legs waxed, nails done etc. We're only taking a week after though, as only going to Rome for a short mini-moon without our toddler son, so don't need the long honeymoon after. We will be taking that the following winter after i've I started my new leave year.

I'd love the whole week off but seeing as I'll also be having time off for honeymoon not sure work will be impressed! I may be changing jobs if OH and I have to move (he's in the army) in which case I will probably quit my job a week before the wedding and choose not to start my new job until a few weeks after.

My wedding is on a Saturday but we're setting up the venue, having our civil ceremony and a party on the Friday. I need to drive to Cornwall (4 hour drive) and have my nails done, spray tan done etc so I'm thinking at least three days off before the wedding.

I'm have 3 days before, but my wedding is on a Monday, so I'm taking the Friday off and then have the weekend. We're getting married some distance away so will drive down on the Friday, have Saturday to chill out and do nothing and then do the pre wedding meet and greet on Sunday.
