How many guests are you having?

*Mrs M to be*, 22 May, 2014 at 21:51 Posted on Planning 0 30

Hi everyone

Just been looking through my rsvp's so far and going down the list of who are yet to RSVP but pretty much guaranteed to be coming. Just wondering what sort of size weddings other people are having?

It looks like we'll have 47 people to the ceremony (49 including fiancé and I!) and then an additional 20-25 coming to the evening making it 70/75 for the night do. Do you think this is enough people for a good party? Our venue isn't huge so I don't think the room will look empty or anything but just wonder if it'll be a bit quiet/ dull?! We're having a band and a couple of ceilidh dances so I'm hoping a lot of people will be up and dancing but I keep worrying the dance floor might be a bit empty at times with that number of people?

Silly to worry about it I suppose but just wondered what other people are doing?

We more then maxed out the registry office with 37 adults not including us and 10 children as well.

Then we're having around 70 more people to the evening.

I wouldn't worry about numbers, I think it's quality over quantity.

I'm sure your party will be great. It's not about numbers, but the ambience and music etc. Get the right mix and ppl will be dancing all night. 70 is a very healthy no.

We're having 29 including us for the wedding day and night, then ten days later having an after wedding party in our home town for around 100 or so. The 29 of us will have a ball with some who will sit and talk, others will play games, and we will dance and dance. xx

We have 55 for the day and an additional 40 for the evening. I don't think it really matters how many you have, you invite those that you want to share your special day.

We're having a bit of an odd day in that we're not having dancing or a wedding breakfast, but we are having a ceremony followed by cake reception, and then evening buffet reception, but apparently our numbers are quite large... We have 120 for the evening (that was absolute maximum, we'd love more if we could!) and there'll probably be pushing 200 in the day. But it's not like when people invite everyone they've ever met but don't know half of them, it just comes from both of us having different churches at home and then churches in our uni towns, leads to many many people that you can't do without!

I don't think 75 for the night will be quiet or dull, it sounds a pretty good number to me Smiley smile

It sounds perfect to me. We had 84 during the day and a further 60 at night. It was too many for me. I didn't get a chance to speak to half my guests and had no idea if half my evening guests even came until I saw photos.

30 for the day and about another 30 for the evening, keeping it fairly intimate.

45 + 8 kids during the day, no evening guests. The guests are our best friends and closest family, so it will definitely be enough for a fab party. As someone said before me, it's quality that counts!

120 day guests with an extra 30 at night. Wish we could have more, we're struggling to cut down numbers.

To the ceremony, I think 14 (depending on whether one of my uncles can make it). We haven't planned a reception yet so I dunno about that - but I have a big extended family so I suspect quite a lot!

I would rather have the people I wanted there than people just for the sake of it to make extra numbers. Your wedding will be perfect and your numbers sound fine.

Initially when Mr B and I spoke about the wedding I wanted 'small and intimate' but when we sat down to work out numbers we ended up with 85 day guests and just under 150 all in at the evening- not huge but definitely not small and intimate!

Sounds like a great number Mrs M to Be - I used to run events and 70 is a great number to fill a room and create a buzz so don't worry about it!

We're having 40-50 for the day, and up to another 50 for the evening - realistically I suspect we'll end up with similar numbers to you.

We're upto 160 guests for the day and no additional evening guests. Didn't want a big wedding tbh, but my OH's family is huge and he wouldn't cut anyone out as they are all in contact with him. This is going to be a very one sided wedding as my family and friends make up perhaps 30 of the guests!!! I think we have too many but this is the one bit that I've compromised on, and FIL has kindly contributed a lot of money so that we can cater for so many. If it had been left up to me we'd have had around 80 as I think that would have been much more manageable.

We're having 45 to the day and an additional 60 ish for the evening (which is pretty much the maximum capacity for the ceremony and reception venue).

Including kids under 2 and nearly husband and me, 51 for the ceremony.

Afternoon reception will be about 70 (number restrictions for registry office means we can't have everyone we want at the ceremony).

Evening reception will be about 150

We're having just 29 for the day (including the two of us) and then a total of just over 50 for the evening. I have worried a bit too that we might not have enough people to get a great atmosphere but I'm sure that it will be lovely - I know that there are a fair few people who will hit the dance floor with me!

We initially planned on 50 for the day and another 50 for the evening. ..we really wanted small and intimate but even these numbers were a struggle due to size of h2bs family. Due to him messing up hi s evening guest list after I had already sent some save the evening messages we have had to invite another 50 on top of that. Just hoping we get some declines from the ones he is only inviting out of duty. Definately not small and intimate.
