How many readings are you having??

mattsgirl, 30 April, 2012 at 12:16 Posted on Planning 0 4

Hi my OH and I are having a civil ceremony and our registrar have siad that we cant have readings during the ceremony. However, they did say that we could have readings after the ceremony.

As the registry office is a lovely gothic building which overlooks a quiet park, we thought it would be a good idea to take our guests into the park and have our readings in the victorian bandstand there before having our photos taken!!

We have selected some readings but our question is how many would be ideal to have? We can spend as long as we want in the park and people have said what a lovely idea it is. OH and I have chosen to do a reading to each other before the other few readings are done.

TIA!

    Hi mattsgirl!

I think we will be having 3 at our ceremony although have never heard of not being allowed during the ceremony. We are due to meet the registrar in June for our October wedding.

It would depend how long theywere.. you want to be considerate of your guests comfort..

although i've not heard of not being allowed to do readings during the ceremony! in fact, my registrar encourages it to give them time to write up the book and certificate.

This^^^!!!!! for the comfort of OH and the littl'uns mainly.

Also never heard of them being disallowed at ceremonies though? Is there a strict time limit or something (I'm thinking of a conveyor belt.. :/)? Or did you want religious readings?
