    Veggie here.

I love eating at Chiquito and Bella Italia for 'chain' restaurants.

This isn't a great area for veggie eating, there aren't any specific veggie restaurants, but as a treat we go to The Gate in Hammersmith, London once or twice a month.

The best vegetarian restaurant I've ever been in, is Rainbow Cafe in Cambridge, and when I was at university there I pretty much lived in Rainbow Cafe!

I have only ever been to one vegetarian restaurant and it was Demuths in Bath. H is a full on carnivore and was dreading it but it was amazing!

Jack is a vegetarian too. He wasn't when we first met, but when we started dating, we'd go to Rainbow Café quite a bit and he got a taste for vegetarian food. Then off his own back, he started to look into vegetarianism. After watching one of those 'animal slaughter' horror videos online, he came to the conclusion that as he could never kill an animal for food himself, he could no longer justify eating meat just because someone else has killed the animal.

I was quite shocked when he told me he was going to become a fully signed up member of the vegetarian club!

Wow that must make things so much easier at dinner! My H is a proper Elmar Fudd. We couldnt be more opposite. His biggest love in life after me (i hope) is shooting, beating, etc.

Although hes really good now in that he will eat veggie meals cos he thinks theyre tasty not cos i force him ?

    Me!

Favourite veggie restaurant by a long shot is Greens in Didsbury. It's co-owned by Simon Rimmer. It's gorgeous. I used to live just over the road but now it's more of a special trip out. Next booked for early March, yay! Their veggie black pudding is lush.

You've got the cookbook, you tell me! I suspect it's some combo of oats, spices etc.

    *Hands up*

I'm easy, I'll eat in regular restaurants without much fuss. Usually just requires a little menu shift around or word in chefs ear.

Me! I love going for a curry since they always have loads of veggie options. There's a place near me that is out of this world! There is a veggie cafe near us too, but I've never actually been despite being told many times that it is amazing.

This. I'm happy wherever, I'm happy with chips and rice if that's all I can eat. I live in London and 99.9% of restaurants have a veggie dish on the menu that I will eat (I don't like raw tomatoes). I like the normal 'chain' Italian restaurants (Zizzi, Pizza Express, Strada) and am happy to eat at Nandos or Wagamama's. I can honestly say I have never had a problem as a veggie in this country, and even when I went vegan for a year I never went anywhere where I wasn't accommodated in some way.

Mr J is a carnivore, and the only veggie place he really likes going to (as opposed to going because I want to go, but secretly missing the meat) is Food for Friends in Brighton. Amazing, amazing food.

We've been to Terre a Terre twice now and just don't get it. The first time we ordered a 'special' mixed plate of food, some of it was hot and some cold (as in, on purpose) and none of it 'went' together. Didn't like it. So we thought we'd give it another go and went in properly for dinner. It was okay but nothing more... I really liked my soup starter but the main was just, well, standard. Everyone raves about TaT but we just don't see why and won't be returning when we're next in Brighton.

Me! Well actually I was for 22 years until last July when I became a pescatarian but the important thing (to me) is that I don't eat meat.

I agree with FTLOMB Greens is fab. I am seriously bored of only being offered the same old food everywhere else, pastas and risottos etc are so easy, everyone makes them at home. I just wish they'd put in more effort for their veggie customers. Now I eat fish though there's sooo much more chioce and eating out is a lot more interesting.

I wish all omnivores were so open to veggie food.

Due to the fact that we're both vegetarian, OH and I are planning on veggie-only food at the wedding, and this is already causing a few complaints from family members (mainly on OH's side).

Call me dumb, but surely if you're going to be attending a wedding where both the bride and groom are vegetarians, you might expect all vegetarian food.

Anyway, they'll be told if they don't like it, to not bother coming!

Good for you. I agree - it's not just a question of taste for your OH clearly, so why should he go against his principles to pay for food for others.

I've been veggie for years. I very rarely go to vegetarian restaurants because my OH isn't, and as he doesn't eat a lot of meat at home, eating out is his opportunity to indulge his carnivorous side. I like La Tasca because I like the idea of lots of different dishes, also Las Iguanas, and most Indian restaurants. I love Thai food but they seem to vary quite a lot in how well they cater - in some, everything is in fish sauce! I used to eat a lot of pizza and pasta but as I'm also diabetic that's not such a good plan any more.

I used to live in Manchester and there was a lovely veggie restaurant in Rusholme where I went with work colleagues a couple of times. Their food was very interesting and delicious.
