I have just worked out how much the cost of postage is to send our invites, £50!!! and that's second class! for all those still in the planning stage make sure you include this into your budget! Of to go think of ways to get some overtime at work!!

Yup! I'm annoyed because they put the prices up in April and I wish I'd bought all my stamps then and just kept them!

OH refused to pay that much for stamps, so went off on his bike to deliver any within a 6 mile radius, bless him! Saved us £24 though...

We just gave ours by hand wherever possible. We had to send one to friends in Germany, sent it end of May and they still haven't had it so that was a waste of postage!

Singlenomore, i now feel even more annoyed as it is not like they go out of date!

Hazyclaire, we are handing out as many as possible but loads of my family live an hour away so they r a no go!! We hand delivered one in Northampton on the way back from Nottingham so that 26p saved or what ever it is!

I got mine before the price went up as well. That said, I think I will hand deliver as many as possible, not because I don't want to post them, but because I want to see the look on peoples faces when they open them! (we are not having ordinary invitations!)

Think it cost us about £30 in the end, should have been £50 at least. And H2B burnt some calories! (I probably should have gone with him!)

If you know anyone who has a Costco card they sell them in bulk in there. Only about 5-10p each less but a saving none the less!

We're not getting married until next year but half our invitations will be going overseas so had to make sure to factor that into our budget.

Since moving to Scotland postage is the one thing that shocks me regularly, it's quite a bit more expensive than Ireland with a small card costing almost 90p. We need to include menu cards with our invitations so postage costs were definitely in mind when I was researching options and thankfully our cheque book invitations shouldn't cost the earth to post (though I must do a full trial soon to weigh and make sure!)

I bought all mine before the price rise then the PO (with arep. for overchargin) refused ot let me post them on it so I had to spend another £20, complained and got my oney back but now have a load of stamps left over! Guess that's postage for the thank you cards all bought :-)

I've heard so many similar stories, I think I will be doing a tour of post offices just to ensure the postage is correct before I send them out ?

Remember to include the postage for your thank-you cards when budgeting too!

I bought my stamps back in April to beat the increase. Cost me £70+, I think I cried a little that day.

We bought 48 2nd class stamps before the prices went up but we are going to try to deliver as many as possible by hand and use these stamps for the RSVP cards

My mum bought the stamps for my invites before the price increase .... Despite the fact that we don't get married until next August and I haven't even bought the stuff to do the invites yet! She worked out that it saved h over £50 though so it pays to be organised I guess!

I obviously do not watch the news enough, or write enough letters, as the first I heard about the price increase was on here! Note to self must pay more attention to the outside world!

*sigh* And over half our guests are overseas - depending on the weight of card for our invites, it will be either £1.28 or £1.90 each to send them, and that's without any inserts!! If we did full invites with inserts and all it would likely be even more!

Luckily for save the dates we're doing paperless post (https://www.paperlesspost.com/) - saving us a small fortune!
