How much???

DancingQueen, 7 October, 2008 at 22:30 Posted on Planning 0 14

I've just had an email through from a Santorini restaurant (Feredini) quoting me for a wedding meal for 20 people, and it works out at £117 per person!!!!!!!!! ? Surely that can't be par for the course??

Here's what it includes:

1 Kir-Royal / person
4 starters for every 4 people
2 salads for every 4 people
1 main dish / person
1 dessert / person (alternatively, a wedding cake )
Water - Soft drinks - beers
Unlimited wine up to 20 bottles, of the island’s best
A glass of vinsanto / person (After dinner dessert wine)

Any further guests are an extra 80euros each.

How much did you/are you paying?

Suzie ~xx~

Have they quoted you a per head price or a package. Seems strange that the 20 people are going to cost £117 each but additional only £60

A package, I guess, as they've quoted 3000euros for up to 20 people, and I know, it's such a big difference. I've seen some pics of a girl from another forum who got married there, and they're stunning, but part of the reason we're going abroad is to save money, not throw it away!

It does seem a little on the expensive side, and it doesn't add up that the extra guests are so much cheaper at all. Is it including some kind of room hire charge? Decoration of venue?

Hmmm, we will be using the restaurant exclusively, but I still think that's really steep. It doesn't mention anything about decoration of venue, and says it doesn't include tips either. Ha! I'll give them a tip, lower your prices ?

If it includes exclusive use of the venue I don't think it's an excessive price.

I agreee - if they are only going to have the 20 of your party there they have to think about recouping some of the costs they would have made if there were more customers IYKWIM? x

Yeah I guess, it's just alot more than I anticipated! We have got a fairly healthy budget though, so for the sake of having a venue exclusively to ourselves, we might just have to go with it. Will get more quotes from other restaurants, and see how they compare.

    Thanks!

Could you just use half the restaurant and let them have customers in the other half?

Is there a way that you could be seperated from the rest of the restaurant?

I remember paying 8 euros for a latte in santorini and thats going back to when the euro was first introduced so must be about 7 years ago. its a very expensive place so that might be right.

We got married in Rhodes August 2007 and our set meal in the restaurant was 29 euros per head for food which included meze starters (5 different dishes and pitta), a main dish (from a choice of 4 on the night) and 3 different dessert dishes served in the middles of the tables.

I think the wine was about 13 euros per bottle, and water something like 3 euros per bottle. We didnt have toasting wine/champagne at the restaurant because we had champagne on a boat cruise beforehand. Going by this though it does seem a lot of money per person, I guess it stems from the fact that you have exclusive use though, as we hired the ground floor courtyard but there were other people on the roof terrace.

I would ask around and get different quotes to see if it's an island thing as well.

I think you need to separate the cost per person and the exclusivity charge. 3000 Euros for 20 people has probably been calculated as 1600 Euros for food and drink (20 x 80 Euros) and 1400 Euros for exclusive use. Put like this it doesn't look so high.

Ice Queen - excellent idea, I may approach them about that, thanks!

clueless bride - I know, I thought exactly the same when I read that too *rolls eyes*

donnaj36 - I hope you're wrong, as we might have to change our destination otherwise!

**Pip** - Thanks, that's handy to know.

Sarahjl - Very good point, I guess I just never envisaged room hire to be that much.

Will keep you posted on any other quotes I get!
