How much alcohol do I need? (Party related)

Lady Muck, 10 May, 2009 at 08:44 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 8

It is Izzy's Christening in 3 weeks and we have about 80 people coming.

We had thought to just offer pink fizz rather than a selection of white/red wine, plus beers/cider and soft drinks.

How much do I need though?

Christening is at 12pm so back to our place by 1.30. On the basis it will be a Sunday, people won't have toooo much to drink, except for the ones that are staying ?, but I really can't decide. What do you think?

Fizz wise we figure 4 glasses per bottle, so if everyone has 2 glasses we will need 40 bottles, but buying in 12's obv we'll have 48 which leaves a little spare.

How much beer etc on top should we get? I had thought perhaps 36 tins of lager and 24 bottles of real "special beer", plus maybe 12 cider (there aren't that many who drink cider I don't think.)

Soft drinks wise, 10 cartons of decent OJ, and 12 bottles of lemonade and 12 of coke.

Does this sound about right?

Any thoughts much much much appreciated.

TIA

Sounds good to me, or, take the easy way out and just do Pimms!

    Thanks Mrs O - a tempting suggestion!

Can't even begin to calculate how much Pimms I would need!

Sounds good. I think I'd also do a less sweet soft option- eg weak elderflower cordial with fizzy water or just fizzy water- I imagine that lots of adults will drink soft drinks and coke and lemonade can be a bit sticky for some.

Like Knownowt I would get less coke and lemonade and get some fizzy water instead. Alcohol sounds fine.

Personally I'd get some none fizzy stuff, but that's because I don't drink anything fizzy.

If you're getting 'fizz' like prosecco or something, will you be serving it in champagne flutes as opposed to proper wine glasses? If so, you get 6 glasses to a bottle.

Sounds good.. i would also have a different soft drink option and cut down on the coke and lemonade and i would use smaller glasses for this fizz and get 36 bottles (this still leaves about half bottle each!) Smiley laugh x

I think I'd get less fizz and also get some white & red wine. I too can only drink 1 glass of fizz! Agree you'll get 6 glasses per bottle. Cranberry juice or lime & soda water seems v popular.

Thanks guys - will reduce the amount of fizz then, and get some normal red/white.

    Thanks for all the replies.
