How much are you all paying for your flowers?

Nicalf08, 24 February, 2012 at 08:54 Posted on Planning 0 19

Just out of curiosity really, my oh seems to think we should try and get the price down (he says this after I've confirmed everything with her). We're paying about £590 - £630 depending on how many table centre pieces we need and this is what we're getting:

Bridal bouquet

3 adult bm bouquets (to be doubled up and put on top table)

2 flower girl posies

4 corsages for mums, step-mum and gran

8 buttonholes

1 extra top table arrangement

7/8 table centre pieces

We're having roses and peonies so I think this is quite a reasonable price (in the wedding world) considering roses are meant to be fairly expensive?? She will deliver, set up and come back the next day to pick up the vases.

    Sounds Ok to me.

Its a it more than I am paying for less - but although I will have peonies and roses they won't be the bulk of the flowers.

And like all things I suppose it will depend on where you are in the country too.

I am paying about £520 for:

    large offset shower bouquet (bride)

a pomander and an arm held bouquet (BMs)

    2 corsages for mums

1 buttoniere and 6 button holes

    arrangement for the register table

10 table centres - all in the same flowers but different styles

    arrangements for 4 windows.

That sounds about right, about the same costs i was quoted, even a bit less. roses are expensive, im not sure how you will be able to cut costs without swaping roses for something else.

If you NEED to cut costs, rather than just wanting to make sure its a reasonable price, I'd speak to the florist and see fi she can suggest other flowers to swap some of the more expensive ones out for.

Sounds comparable to mine. We're getting same quantities as you (excluding FG posies and top table) and paying £500. Also won't get any peonies in that either.

Ah so it's sounds roundabout the same, I thought it would be! I don't want to swap the flowers, we don't need to reduce the cost, oh was just being flippant I think ?

Sounds pretty reasonable to me. We're having roses, peonies, and maybe some orchids. We're paying around £900 for:

    5 BM bouquets

    My bouquet

    Flower girl poesy

    9 buttonholes

    2 mum corsages

    2 mantlepiece arrangements

    14 table centrepieces

We're using the bouquets to decorate the top table rather than have a separate arrangement so that helped a bit. I'd still like to pay less but based on what we need, I don't see how we possibly could!

My mums having a buttonhole. I think wrist corsages look ridiculous!

Mine will be less than £100.

Thats for bridal bouquet, 3 x bridesmaid bouquets or pomanders, and 7 or 8 buttonholes.

Corsages don't need to be wrist corsages - they can be a fancier type of buttonhole which pins on like a buttonhole, or can be made to dress up their bag etc.

Think our mums will have the pin on ones

I'm glad some of your mum's are having buttonholes too. I am making my buttonholes from silk tulips and they look brill! I'll flash when I have finished them all. Instead of corsages for the ladies, I have included a tiny pearl loop inside the tulip, which looks very pretty and makes them feminine. The men's ones have looped bear grass. My mum is quite trendy, and she actually said a wrist corsage (or even a corsage pinned on her dress) will ruin her outfit and would much prefer a simply, single flower, buttonhole. So that's what they are getting!

That's what I've tried to make, but also tried to keeo them elegant and simple so they will 'go' with the ladies' outfits. I went to a wedding in December and their (pinned-on) corsages were practically a small bouquet!
