How much are you paying?

tealbutterfly27, 27 July, 2013 at 23:11 Posted on Planning 0 32

Hi everyone!

I always find the forum to be so useful and I need your help yet again! I would love to know how much your paying for your TOGS. I know prices will vary with experience, location and package but it would be nice to know how much people set aside in their budget.

What are you getting for your money?

I may be going for photos from bridal prep to first dance, one of my TOGS are offering two TOGs, a storybook, low resolution disc for FB and other social networking sites and a slideshow on a disc with our wedding music. The offer for this is £1300. I have been offered a slight reduction.

I also have the same above offer with 1 TOG for either £1250 and £850 (differs because of experience)

Would be really helpful to see how your budgets are fairing.

Thanks in advance xx

We are paying £950 for our photographer, who has over 20 years experience. He was recommended to us by a friend of a friend and when we first met him and saw some of his work, we knew this was the style of photographs we wanted from our special day. We have gone for a cheaper package, but he will be with us for those "getting ready" shots right up until the end of the first dance. We will get all of our images on 2 discs, one with edited images and one unedited, as well as copyright certificate. We decided not to have an album as we would prefer to make our own photobook.

We are getting 2 togs, half day package, disc of high resolution imagines, pre wedding engagement shoot for £695.

We don't want an engagement shoot though so going to see if we can get a bit of money taken off OR see how many pics they give on the disc and try and haggle some more onto the disc. The price is £1,100 with a 24 page storybook album but i'd rather get the images printed off myself and into my own book for less than that and hoping it'd be just as good. I really didn't want to go over £1000 for a tog, as brilliant as some are it's just that bit too steep for us personally lol.

Ended up putting our budget up to £900 and narrowed it down to 3 togs which were roughly the same price bar one who was £995 and the albums and quality seemed exact same as the ones we're *hopefully* going for. (meet them next Saturday so hopefully getting finalised then)

Yours sounds reasonable though and majority of togs we contacted seemed about that price for storybook included. x

I'm paying £950 from grooms arrival at the venue until half an hour after the first dance. This includes unlimited high res images on a disc and password protected album online. He knocked off £50 because I didn't want bridal prep, although I may change my mind. It's one TOG with more years experience than I've been alive... and I'm not a young bride.

    Hi lovely

I just want to point something out because of a thread we have had on here for a few days. It sounds like you will not be getting your images as high/full res so you can print them yourself or for family, bigger than about 6x4 without them losing quality. You have probably spotted this yourself but I just wanted to mention it just in case it's something you wanted.

Thank you. Yes I realise this, the images on the disc will only be suitable for social networking. There is an option to buy the digital images but I just don't think I can afford it. Will try to make sure the story book as the best selection of the day. xxx

That is fab ?. Everyone works differently. Some include high res images for that price and others don't. Main thing is you adore the pictures.

Yes. I know I do and for not much more than that and a lot of my friend TOG's do. That way you can share and blow them up as much as you want and don't have to choose just a select few ?. I would have an awful time trying to get my 500 wedding images down to 100 to keep ?.

There is nothing wrong with the way you are doing it though, I just wanted to let you know all your options in case you were unaware.

    £1200 for...

    - Tog for about 10 hours

    - Second fully pro tog for about 6 hours (they're in a circle of pro togs where available ones act as second shooter for a nominal fee)

    - Disc of about 450 images full res

(My tog now charges about £1500 for the same).

I can honestly say I've not missed not having an album - my digital images are what cherish and look at.

I would always recommend paying for a fantastic photographer like Daffodil Waves, even if it means not having an album straight away - you can go back and get an album professionally done at any point. But I guarantee no one will regret having as many high quality images on a disc as they can.

We are paying around £300 for two photographers all day and all images on a disk. Which I'm hoping my lovely fsil will make into an album for us. Out tog is a guest and a family friend so is doing us a deal where we only pay his second tog his wages for the day. Bargain!

For £800 we get one fab photographer from bridal prep through to the end of the first dance. We get a disc of all edited photos (full res) with a print licence. We also get a slideshow set to music although we probably don't really need that - it just came as part of the deal! We'll probably look at putting together our own photo book at some point in the future too.

We are paying £1895 for bridal prep to 30 mins after first dance. The price is the same no matter how long, which is good as we get married at 11!

Price includes 500 minimum full high res photos that have been edited on memory stick, engagement shoot with 40 photos on disc and a very nice and skilled photographer!

We have justified the cost as the photography is the only thing we keep and want to be able to treasure it! We have cut back in other areas to compensate for the cost! Having said that though we looked through LOADS of websites and the majority all charged over £1300 so don't feel its that bad!

Ours is £1650 for high res images on disk. Coverage is from getting ready to first dance, although we are not having a first dance so I'm not entirely sure how long he will stay!

£2200! 8 hours coverage including disc of high and low res fully edited images (min 3-400) expensive but I absolutely LOVE our TOG and would have happily paid more for him.

I think a decent TOG is well worth the investment and worth stretching the budget and cutting back on other areas if necessary.

Ours will be between £1550 (cd only high res plus engagement shoot and one print, 8 hours coverage) to £2850 for a massive Queensberry album, DVD slides show and 9hours coverage and a couple of packages in between. We haven't finally decided which album we want yet.

We're paying £645 which covers us from bridal prep to after first dance. We get all images hi-res on a usb stick.

IF we choose to have an album at a later date he'll do that for us too. Not only was he the cheapest tog we saw we also got on well with him and felt most comfortable with him, which is a big deal as we're going to be spending all day with him!

Ours is £1650 for bridal prep until any time we wish, all the high res business , a 'cloud' storage thingy for everyone to look at the pics, plus a fancy photo book. Engagment shoot included too. He will have a second shooter too.

apart from us liking his pics his communication was excellent and professional, some people don't even bother to reply to emails (or just badly written response), he drove 60miles to our house and bought us a beautifully boxed bottle of wine (before we had booked him), he ws very helpful in recommending other suppliers, we booked him and can pay in monthly instalments ( which helps out massively). Last week we recieved a red letter day experience from him- to help give us some time out during the wedding planning stresses.

All these things are a equally important to both of us as we'll as the 'package'

£915... but that is family rates as my TOG is my cousin (been a wedding TOG for 3-4 years and his work is getting better and better).

Am getting full coverage from getting ready right through the evening, a photobooth for an hour or so in the evening for silly/sensible guest shots (we're providing the props), disc of all the high res images, photo album for us + two A5 albums for the parents. Was pretty happy with that.

I'm paying £1,500 and that's weekday rates, but that's with a videographer as well.

    It includes:

Full day coverage. From bridal preparations to first dance.

Graphically designed wedding album containing approx 300 edited photos (which is an amazing album, by far the best I've seen)

2 CD's of all pictures included in the wedding album for personal use free of copyright.

A CD of all 3,000 or so unedited photos

Creative editing of 4 DVD chapters cut to the music of your choice.

2 DVDs of full day presented in white embossed cases.

It's probably THE most important thing for us so we are happy to pay for an amazing photographer and videographer.

    Evening,

We were going to pay £750 for photographer from bridal prep to cake cutting at wedding reception, including copyright free printable DVD and one framed photo with border signed by guests, but the boyfriend objected as he thought the photos looked "overprocessed". Don't ask me what that means, as they looked lovely to me. I thought that was a good deal.

However, we are now paying £499 for photographer for the same length of time, engagement shoot and copyright free printable DVD. He has over 25 years experience and the photographs look excellent. Perks of having a photographer that lives close to the venue!

At the end of the day, pay as much or as little as you are happy with.

From grooms arrival until after first dance for £700, images on disc with option for album later. Our TOG has all sorts of accolades and is a member of the BIPP and MPA (I think I have that right!) so if anything happens there is other TOG's we could use.
