How much are you spending?

We're having a once in a lifetime because it's our honeymoon. It might be but a week in our caravan in north wales but it's our honeymoon so once in a lifetime, and that's all that matters. It's what we want to do.

your honeymoon should be what's important to the two of you, budget is a factor of course, but it doesn't have to cost the earth. X

Our honeymoon is costing around £10k. We're going to the Maldives for 10 nights premium all inclusive with access to an exclusive club with it's own restaurant and bar. We're also flying business class (mainly for comfort due to H2B's back problem).

The Maldives was on both of our bucket lists before we met so there was never any question about where we wanted to go and we figured that if we're going to do it then we might as well go all out and have the best of everything we want.

This is in complete contrast to the homeymoon I had when I got married the first time.... 4 nights in a log cabin in Surrey.... it was what we could afford at the time and we enjoyed it immensely though.

We initially planned to spend about £5k and like you this spiralled more and more and now its amounting to £8500!!

Almost as much as our entire wedding is costing!!

We wanted to go to the maldives and initially picked a great island in our original budget.... then we fell in love with another island £2k more.... then we decided we wanted to spend 3 nights in Dubai.... booked a gorgeous hotel... then I read about the only 7* hotel in Dubai and wanted to see how much that would cost.... so we decided to stay there.... then we decided we wanted an extra few nights on the honeymoon which resulted in us going the day after the wedding and coming back only a day before we return to work.....So after lots of chopping and changing and extending and up grading...we have finalised it with 1 night in the 7* hotel... 3 nights in another Dubai hotel and the 8 nights in the maldives in the best accomodation possible on the premium all inclusive so really have gone all out!! We started off trying to be very sensible and it snow balled...

Obviously we havent had the honeymoon yet but I dont regret it now and I dont think I will after .... we both wanted a once in a lifetime.. we can afford it just about and its not something we would splash out on again for a holiday!
