How much detail do you put in your Order of Service?

Hi - wondered if someone could help...

We're getting married in a C of E church. I was given a template by the church administrator, which has been since checked by our vicar, but I'm worried it is too brief. When I've gone onto the C of E website, the template it gives you is very detailed, including the blessing and prayers written out so that the congregation know when to say 'we will' and 'amen' etc. My OOS is quite simple with just headings:

Entrance of the Bride

Welcome

Hymn (printed in full)

Declaration

Reading - Colossians 3: 12 - 17

Hymn (in full)

and so on... so there isn't much written out in full other than the hymns. Is this normal? What have you done and how many pages did it take up?

Many thanks

Amy

    Hi,

Im doing something similar but am including any parts where the guests will need to speak. E.g. The declaration, Lord's Prayer etc.

Ours hasn't been approved yet so don't know if it is alright!

I would include any text which will require a response from the congregation, particularly if they aren't regular churchgoers. It is convention to write what the vicar says in normal font, and responses in bold.

I had an order of the day, so not too sure what goes in the religious one, but I included the words to the readings, names of those doing the readings (so I'd say include the vicars name) the songs being played walking in, signing register and walking out. Also names of those in the bridal party, the fact that rice, petals & confetti were not allowed, but that blow bubble things were being provided

I'm sure the administrator will advise if its too brief.
