How much do you pay for your haircut?

Lady Falafel, 14 May, 2009 at 10:03 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 41

I'm normally such a tightwad and go for the cheapest option I can. I'm a low maintenance sort and most mornings end up just brushing and tying my hair back or clipping it up. I don't wear makeup or do my nails or anything and haven't in years. I've never really had a particular stylist and generally just get the ends tidied up when I can be bothered to go.

I had a day off yesterday and decided to get one last cut before I'm busy with the new baby and ended up getting a senior stylist who's done a fantastic job but charged me £50! I guess you get what you pay for, but I'm not sure I can swallow spending that amount of money even every 3 months.

Do people really spend that much on hair and have it done every 6 weeks? Is that why they look so much better than me ?

I get my hair cut at a local small salon by the manager and it only costs £21.50. I have long hair and usually go every 10-12 weeks.

She does do a really good job and spends 2 hours cutting & straightening it.

I'm getting my hair cut & coloured later today, first time since November ? It's long overdue. My salon have 40% off colour on a Tuesday and Thursday so I'll probably spend just short of £100 today. semi permanent tint all over, with highlights in sections, plus cut and blowdry.

I pay about £100 every 8 weeks for a cut and highlights. It's with a senior stylist so the cut is around £50.

It's worth it for me as he can "do" my hair.

I think my last haircut was 18 pounds which was more than I remember paying at the same place last time. I have a wash and cut and only have that as my hair is curly so really has to be washed wet. I say I'm going to have a trim every 2-3months and then it ends up being much later and when I've got to the point of I having to have my hair up every day as it's in such a state

Depends where I go - have a local girl who charges me £22 for cut without blowdry or £33 with or a place near work that, last haircut, cost me £98.

I pay £7.50 for a wet trim (only if I'm going straight home afterwards), or £14 for a cut and blow dry. When I can afford for her to colour its usually about £45. Thats 2 or 3 colours, cut and blow dry.

My hairdresser works from home so she can charge less, she also used to own her own salon and has been cutting my hair for nearly 15 years. I ❤️ her, lol!

Mine is £70 for highlights (1/4 to 1/2 head), cut and blow dry. I have it done every 8-10 weeks or so.

My hairdresser comes to my house - it costs me £18 for cut and blow dry (every 6-8 weeks) and £40 for highlights, cut and blow dry - usually every third visit (so about every 4 months). I love my hairdresser and will probably cry if she ever stops or goes back to work in a salon.

I get a wash, cut & blow-dry (and sometimes straightens it all as well) for £25. Have it done about every 10 weeks or so.

So most of you spend the same as me normally (up to £30) every few months.

Perhaps it's just that I'm in N London then, but I'm always made to feel a bit slovenly that I want the most junior / cheapest person and don't get it done every 6 weeks. I don;t want to go back to having rubbish hair though, but it's SUCH a lot of money, especially as I'm not earning right now.

I went to the local college and paid £6.50 for a cut and blow dry ? She did do a good job though and the person teaching checks your hair as well and says where it could be trimmed a bit more to the student.

I did like the way my hair looked afterwards! My mum pays about £25 to get hers cut, dyed, highlighted and blow dried!

I used to just get a cut and blow dry for £20 and then colour it myself at home but I can't get away with that any more due to my grey ☹️

I got mine cut, coloured/highlighted last week and it was £55. That was for a half head of foils a full head would have been £65. I don't go as often as I should I try and string it out to 3 months or more due to cost but again due to my grey I'm going to need to start going more often. It is a lot of money but I can't abide grey hair. Ah well, Mr R pays about the same for contact lenses every few months, at least I don't have that expense!

Just under 30 squid for a cut and blow dry, about 70 when colour gets involved.

I pay about £17 for a wet cut, and gut my hair chopped every 6-8 weeks. If I don't my hair's so thick it starts to look like I've got an untamed shrub on my head!

I haven't had a professional colour/highlight job for a loooooooooong time (but think I might treat myself to one if moeny will allow) and do my own colouring at home. I have lots of grey hair but don't find the DIY approach a problem.

About £35 every 6-8 weeks here.

I colour at home - have been since I was 15 (started going grey at 16). But I'm a brunette - don't know if that makes any difference? I can't say I've ever felt a colour I've had done professionally has ever looked better than one I've done at home [shrug]

Depends on what I'm having done. If I go for a cut, colour and hightlights it can cost anything upto £150. I'm going to get a cut and blow-dry at Toni & Guys tomorrow and I doubt I'll get much change out of £50 for that. However I'm terrible at getting ym hair cut regulary, I always forget. The last time I got my hair cut was back in Feb (which is why it looks terrible at the moment)

I got a very nice haircut by the owner of a nice city salon a few weeks ago and it was £50 for it and wash/bd as a bit of a treat. Usually for a trim and wash and bd the little local place charges me about £10 and she's very good there too.

My hairdresser is one of my best friends so it costs me £30 for a colour (anything I want) cut and blowdry, she's a really good hairdresser and could charge a lot more in a city centre but has her own neighbourhood salon. I think it's about £40-45 for that normally and around £18 for cut and blow dry.

£45 every 6 weeks. Which I think is way too much for a suburban hairdressers. However, I really like the way the girl has cut my hair, which is why I keep going back, as it sits so much better than it ever did before. I think we are changing the style a little so I am hoping I can go less as it is so expensive. (it is a graduated bob with the back quite short so it needs done every week, she is thinking getting the back longer).

I pay £18 for a wash, cut and blow dry and probably go to the hairdressers maybe 4 times a year.

I have a cut and colour (to cover the grey) every 10 to 12 weeks and it costs me £95. I also go and have my roots done every 6 weeks which costs about £25. I spend a bloody fortune at the hairdressers, which I really can't afford now, so I think I might have to start colouring it at home. I hate the mess though and never know which colour to use. Might have to do a separate thread for advice!

I have a cut and blow dry around every three months, and it costs about £30 at my local salon. When I was working, I used to go to Regis in Birmingham - they were fab but it was usually about £70!

I get mine done every 6 weeks. I get 2/3 colours put in and wash, cut and bd. I alternate between T panel, half head and full head so it can cost anything between £60 - £80. My H spends £50 a month on golf membership so he needn't dare complain!

I pay £50 every 8 weeks, as I'm paranoid that if I don't go for a senior stylist, they'll do something hideous to my hair. I adore my hairdresser, I love putting myself into her hands as it were, and see what she comes up with. I had the same hairstyle for about 10 years before she sorted me out!

It depends, I suppose if you're just having a trim and your hair is one length, it's surely not worth going for the top level. But if you want something different/adventurous I'd say it was worth paying more for a more skilled stylist

I last paid £56 for a cut blow dry and half head highlights with the senior stylist who incendently also cuts Pikasues and Brontolos hair - Psycho, I think there may be a contest for hitched hairdresser crown
