How much do you pay for your haircut?

I'm normally such a tightwad and go for the cheapest option I can. I'm a low maintenance sort and most mornings end up just brushing and tying my hair back or clipping it up. I don't wear makeup or do my nails or anything and haven't in years. I've never really had a particular stylist and generally...

I don't wear makeup or do my nails or anything and haven't in years. I've never really had a particular stylist and generally just get the ends tidied up when I can be bothered to go.

I had a day off yesterday and decided to get one last cut before I'm busy with the new baby and ended up getting a senior stylist who's done a fantastic job but charged me £50! I guess you get what you pay for, but I'm not sure I can swallow spending that amount of money even every 3 months.

Do people really spend that much on hair and have it done every 6 weeks? Is that why they look so much better than me ?

I pay £30 for a wash cut, blow dry and straigten every 6 weeks and I always go to the same place because its at the top of the road and I like my hairdresser. I think what I pay is quite reasonable. Thankfully I don't colour it because I love the original colour so that saves money.

I used to pay between £32 to £40 for a wash cut and blow in a chain salon every 12 weeks or so. Yesterday I treated myself to a wash cut and blow at a new salon (new to me as I've just moved to Tunbridge Wells) It was my birthday so I fely justified ? in shelling out £58 to have a senior stylist do my hair.

I have to admit I loved it, it was a very swish salon, their customer service was excellent and the chap that did my hair was fab. He spent a good 15 mins before starting talking to me about my hair, my lifestyle, how much time I honestly can afford on upkeep etc. I have never had that long a consultation before. He recommends I go back every 10 weeks and has recommended one of his colleagues as a colourist.

They charge differently to other places I have been to. By the hour regardless of what you have done. So, this stylist was £58 per hour. If I'd had colour done as well I guess it would have taken 2 hours? so cost £116 for wash, cut, colour and finish.

Would love to use them regularly but can't really justify the cost I don't think..

I used to spend £45 on getting my hair cut. Then I couldn't get an appointment, was desperate and had it done at my local salon for £12.00.

I actually think I get a better cut there, I can walk to it and they are really quick!

I would try different ones out if I were you.

I have long hair and pay between £45-60 for a cut and blow dry every 3 months. If I am going out for the evening and want to feel extra glam, I sometimes pay between £20-30 to have it blowdried straight or set on big rollers and "dressed".

I colour my own hair. I used to get it down professionally when I had foils and/ or varying shades of red, but over the last 3-4 years I have a choc brown tint all over which I would begrudge paying to have done professionally.

About £40 for a cut. About £120 if I want highlights as well. I'm in SE London

I used to have the colour done every 3 months, and a cut slightly more regularly, but there's no point now as my hair is permanently in a ponytail or the girlchild pulls it out. I haven't had my hair cut or coloured since i had the baby 6 months ago. Yummy mummy I am not.

I have mine done every 6-8 weeks and I pay £38 for a wash cut and blowdry plus sometimes straightened too.

I have a junior stylist but I think it's only an extra £10 for the senior stylist. I just have whoever is free which for the last 4 times has been the same lad and he's lovely. Never had a bad cut there and I can nearly always just pop in and get an appointment.

    I'm £36 - £46 every 4 weeks!

I have to get my roots touched up as i'm now 100% grey (and have been since I was 30). I used to colour at home but there is no way I could get full coverage myself.

I get all twitchy in the last week before I go to the hairdressers - I hate it when my roots are getting to the visible stage.

I pay £32 for a cut and blow dry and get it done every 8 weeks although trim my fringe myself in the meantime.
