How much involvement have you had in OH suit ?

JoHawes, 12 November, 2011 at 15:32 Posted on Planning 0 8

Hi Hitchers

Just a quick question - How much input have you had into ur OH & Best man, ushers suits? My OH has gone off today with is bestman to look at suits & was adamant I couldn't have any input! I trust him that it will look very smart & stylish but I would have liked some input! :o) He wouldn't even take the swatch of the bridesmaids dresses! I knew this was coming as his brother (his bestman) had gone on his own - saying that as he had no input in the brides dress she could have no input in the suits!

So I have involved my OH in the bridesmaids dresses to try and counter this - but it hasn't worked! LoL

I just wondered how much involvement anyone else had had in their OH suits etc.. ?

My Oh looked for and decided on his online, he is having it tailored for him, but he did ask what I thought because he hasn't got a clue, as for the waistcoats and cravats etc, that was my decision but he agreed with me.

I'm not having any. OH has told me what colours he's thinking of and that's it. The cravats are being made out of the same material as the BM dresses so he will make sure it matches. That's about it though.

He didn't have an involvement in my dress so I'm leaving him to do his suit. Am looking forward to the surprise of what he picks.

None at all, I decided that I was ok with it being a surprise.

I don't even know what style of suit they have chosen or even if they are having cravats or ties! They took a sample of the BM dress fabric but I don't mind if it doesn't match, just as long as it compliments.

I know almost every detail of the wedding and am looking forward to something being a surprise for me. It can be a bit hard not knowing when you have had input in to everything else, but I wouldn't worry, I am sure he will do you proud ?

We haven't started suit shopping yet but Mr R has said that he doesn't want me to come with him when he does. I reeeaally hope he changes his mind, or at least lets me come for a little while, because he's not one for shopping around, he'll pick the first one he sees, regardless of whether he likes it or not, for an easy life. However if he really doesn't want me there (understandable) then I'll have to get over it!

Thanks Sparkelly - I'm sure he will do great :o)

I didn't realise this was so common I feel better now I know I'm not the only bride who hasn't had any input - Thanks fellow hitchers ?

Mine chose what he liked then asked me to go back with him as i hate lilac but he loved the traditional wedding pattern in silver and lilac and wanted me to see it with our colours which are cadbury purple, i was concerned it wouldnt go with the ivory of my dress but the lilac looks darker against the purple and i am so please he asked for my opinion, its the only thing he has shown interest in x

OH told me what colours he was thinking of when we first started planning so we went from there really. He was adamant he wanted royal blue tie, waistcoat and black suit. I just made sure our little touches were royal blue, but lightened with bits of ivory and silver.

Then he found his ideal suit online so I went with him as he wanted me to give my opinion on what it looked like on. Turns out he hated the black suit, it wasn't comfortable and looked very heavy, especially for a summer wedding. So now he is having a charcoal grey, with only a royal blue cravat and his waistcoat will be ivory so the whole look is lighter. The only input I had was telling him to get whatever he felt comfy in, and saying that I thought the cravat looked smarter than the tie.

I went with the guys when they went for fittings, but only because my bridesman was meeting them there and hadn't met OHs men before, so I wanted to make sure I could introduce them. When he felt comfortable I left them to it and went to the pub!

I went with hubby & his best man to pick their suits. Hubby already had a good idea of what he wanted, so I didnt really add much. I did take a cutting from my bridesmaid dress so their cravats matched, but otherwise the boys picked great suits.

He certainly never said I shouldn't go along!
