How much is too cheap??

heath1980, 11 January, 2013 at 19:42 Posted on Planning 0 8

Need some advice. I have booked a Disco service for my wedding in 2014 (early I know!) but I wondering if the price is too good to be true. I have been charged £160 for 4 hours... most other disco services I have found were charging around £250+ for weddings.

They have reviews and I message someone else who used them but still a little worried.

    Well that is reassuring then...

I just checked their website www.embraceentertainments.com and it looks like it is because they have only started offering discos again. I am more assured now so thank you

That's average price round here, I think £250 is steep.

You could always comment on the price and ask them, there might be a legit reason why they're cheap, as you said it could be that they've just started offering discos again. Might give you a bit of peace of mind Smiley smile

I think £250+ is expensive. I have had quotes from £170-£220. The DJ we have gone with is £200 for 5 hours but won't charge more if it runs over. Main reason we picked him is because we have used him before so are safe in the knowledge that he is good Smiley smile

£450-£600 is the going rate for a pro dj with a soundsystem, before the dancefloor and mood lighting.

Depends what your getting, if the DJ is a hobbyist, essentially a guy with a few lights and a smoke machine playing some tunes from his laptop then he has little overheads and can probably go out a bit cheaper.

Whereas if the DJ has an all singing all dancing light show and mixes properly with decks and has years of real DJ experience fully PAT licensed and insured then i guess you get what you pay for?

£160 does seem cheap to be honest but you may have dropped lucky!

    Good luck..

We've paid £170. Ours is a pro, he's in house at a different venue but we liked him and poached him. That's with his higher package lighting and sounds. He used to be resident dj at a nearby massive night club so like to think he knows what he's doing! £400 is extortionate!
