Hi Karen, We've got 7 members in your area.....really good professional guys....so I couldn't understand when you had said you didn't have any replies. Even if they are already booked, we encourage our guys to respond anyway.

The way the system works is that the enquiries go automatically to the members in the area and a duplicate comes to us. So I've checked through the data base and I can't find it. There could have been a blip in the system and it didn't get through. If you want to drop another through....I can check it gets to its destination. Here's the enquiry form

Karen....or anyone else.....if you're unsure about booking your DJ, drop me a line by email or phone (contact is on my own website in my signature) and I can advise. I know a rediculous amount of DJs around the country, members and non members, professionals and lower end. Don't forget to use those questions I put on a previous thread too as they sort the men out from the boys.

My DJ, Phil from choice entertainment, was absolutely brilliant - we got married near Brands Hatch so he will definitely cover your area. He was £450 but I would reccommend him to anyone as he was totally brilliant. He has a 'fan' page on facebook, pages on you tube and his own website ( I think www.choiceentertainment.eu ?)

My DJ is charging us £250. I had been quoted £150 from a DJ which a family freind uses all the time (they have a lot of parties) but as I hadn't seen/heard him before I was a bit dunious and decided to go with the more expensive DJ who also DJ'ed for my freinds wedding in August.

All other quotes ranged from £200-£300, but for me the most important thing was that i had seen them before and knew for myself that they would be good.

Sandy - Did ask your questions and most seemed to be part time DJ's with day jobs in offices etc.. not sur eif this is normal?! I shouldnt think it is when they are charging at least £250 up to £410 but still working full time elsewhere?

Anyway the illness question gets them.. I got 2 answers that were funny one was ive never been ill in 15 years of my 30 year DJ career!! and the other was he'll come no matter even if he's in hospital!!

I'll fill the form out again and if you could check for me that would be magic! Thanks! x

    Had a giggle at that!

Its actually a really important question....and the answer you are looking for is that they have a network of people to support them should something unforseen happen.

Here's an example. My partner was voted wedding entertainer for NI last year....his reputation is everything. So although we have never been ill or never been able to turn up....we both have a very tight back up plan. We carry numbers and their availability of some local guys that we would highly recommend and we know would do as good a job as ourselves. We've never had to use it, but one of the other guys have and it went smoothly and guests were totally unaware....which is how it should be.

At the end of the day things go wrong....its how we deal with them that sets us apart. Burying your head in the sand and saying it will never happen to you (or I never get ill or have an accident or van breaks down) is laughable.

Exactly~!! Did you notice of my enquiry form went through?

Ive just had a quote for 375 and they seem reasonable people.

They have 30 DJ's and are a kind of agency though...

They quoted us at 300 at a show late lats year so I think if we did go with them I'd be looking ot pull a dont tell the bride whats your best price.

Another one that seems good has the following spec:

Package Consists of Experienced DJ c/w Minimum 1kw Power Amp, 4 x 600 watt EV Speakers, 4 x Lighting Effects, Table Dressed In Smart Black Illuminated Star Cloth, All Relevant Metal Stands. Delivery, Set Up and Collection.

DJ in Black Trousers & Shirt

NO idea if this is enough or not? its not a huge venue and we will have circa 115 people there..

    What do you think Sandy?

    Thanks!

    Karen

    Yep...sorted.

The equipment listed there is good. For a small venue for 115 people you would only use approx 500 watts of sound...so 2,400 does seem overkill. For that number of people i would put in my two speakers which are 400 watts each. So no problems with the equipment (and EV are pretty good).....the important thing is the DJ and what he does with it.

In all instances, ask to meet with the DJ who will be at your wedding.
