I think all honeymoons will be different costs depending on where you are going, where your flying from, the type of holiday it is ie skiing, safari, beach etc.

ours is costing £2200 total for 2 weeks in a 5* sensatori hotel in egypt flying from our local airport and with a room upgrade. as we booked as soon as the brochures were released we got a lot of money off plus we cancelled a holiday this year so that we could afford a honeymoon.

from working in the travel industry and selling weddings/honeymoons i know prices can vary greatly but you have to put it into context, is it a honeymoon that YOU and OH really want and is it worth the money.

    what was the quote for?

Ours isnt very exotic or expensive so you probably wouldnt want to use ours as an example!

Two weeks half board to Croatia £1350, plus £600 spending money.

Reasonable depends on where, when and how many ***'s!

We toured Sri Lanka for a week then spent a week in the Maldives on a 4* island (Kuramathi) AI, peak season (March) with Kuoni (although booked through Blue Bay Travel) and it cost us £4,500.

Nearly as much as our wedding, around £9K. We did go to lots of places in 3 weeks though and it was the many flights and car hire which was really expensive... Miami, Florida Keys, Oahu Hawaii, Big Island, New York.

We are still looking at quotes at the moment, but it is looking like between £7K-£10K for luxury all inclusive in Maldives overwater bungalow with glass floor/private plunge pool etc, and then 3/4 nights in luxury hotel in Singapore including flights, transfers etc... depends on how much we've successfully saved up by the beginning of next year and then will make a decision on which resort to go for..

It really does depend on where you are going and what you want as to whether the quote is reasonable or not - for example Seychelles/Maldives etc are going to be a lot more expensive.... For us a proper overwater bungalow was a dream honeymoon so we looked at Maldives and Tahiti as these are the only places that really have proper overwater bungalows for luxury honeymoons. Tahiti we decided was too far away for the time in total we are likely to be on honeymoon (2 weeks max) so decided with Maldives. And we wanted all inclusive which is harder to get in the Maldives (for whatever reason?!) and seems a lot more expensive there for a lot less than in other places we have been. But we really did want the 'dream honeymoon' so if we can save up and afford it, we'll go for it! Smiley smile

For the flights, car hire and accommodation, ours is looking like £6K. Still got spends to include meals and activities on top, though hopefully we will get some of that paid for through our honeymoon gift list! We are off to New Zealand for a month.

To the OP - I think you can only compare like with like, so it would help if you said what the quote is for! Then maybe people who have a similar destination can tell you how much they have paid and where they have booked.

To Indigoemma - we're going to the Maldives too and have been a few times before. As you've said, All Inclusive is pretty expensive in the Maldives. With AI, you are paying for a 3 course lunch which you probably won't get the most out of. The breakfasts tend to be great in the Maldives, so we usually go for a late breakfast and then either skip lunch or just have fruit or a small bite to eat between us. That way you're looking forward to dinner more in the evening.

Also the AI prices are calculated on the assumption you will drink A LOT! Obviously the resorts want to make sure they're not losing money on it. So I personally don't think it's worth it unless you like 2 x 3 course meals a day and are both big drinkers.

We've found it's always worked out cheaper going half board. That's based on having a bottle of wine perhaps one night and then a few beers the next. Plus a couple of cocktails after dinner. Plus water and soft drinks throughout the day.

If you are set on AI, it will also limit your choice of island, as a lot of the top end resorts don't offer it at all.

Sorry to highjack the original post, but I hope that helps!

Ha ha thanks for the tips, but yes I'm planning on AI on the pure amount OH drinks on holiday!! I would worry about trying to list on here how much he would drink a day on holiday as it would definitely sound like he was a total alcoholic (which he isn't! But he really does overindulge on holiday as he works so hard when we're at home etc and likes to relax!) He will drink beers alternated (at my insistence!) with soft drinks/water etc throughout the day and many cocktails/rums and coke etc in the evenings - and I do like my few cocktails throughout the day and quite a few in the evening! So basically I would say we are 'big drinkers' in the sense of should we go AI! It's also because I know if I am paying for the drinks at the end of the holiday I would not have as a good a time (and neither would OH as I would resent him wanting that extra drink etc, and I would probably try and hold back trying a new cocktail etc etc, wheras if it is all paid for before hand then I don't mind as much!)

My sister has been trying to convince me of the joys of half board etc based on the food, but I think the drinks are what really swings it! If we could get all inclusive drinks and pay for our meals I'm sure it would be a better way of doing it.

I am still looking into the idea of perhaps going for somewhere not AI and then taking the extra money as I do agree that the nicer higher end resorts usually are not AI, but I doubt we will end up doing it...

At the moment, my fav resort due to AI and the amazing accomodation (we want a deluxe water villa!) is Lily Beach Resort and Sands but very expensive so we will see...

Out of interest, which resorts have you stayed at in the Maldives, and would recommend? I definitely want an overwater bungalow and preferably the glass floor inside or a private plunge pool etc...

Sorry again, OP for post hijacking!!!!

We are having 4 nights in Las Vegas on the strip, Then 10 nights in Mauii Hawaii. The rooms are based on Room only (we knew this though so are asking for spending money for our wedding gifts!) They have only been able to get a quote using one Airline at the momenyt but it was Total Holiday cost of 5K ish.

If you are looking for all inclusive in Maldives I would highly recommend Diamond Arthuruga - amazing. We had a water villa. 10 nights about £4.5 to 5k. Amazing.

Again, sorry for post hijacking OP ?

One company has recommended that resort but I noticed it didn't have a pool and was unsure about swimming only in the sea to cool off? Was it as warm as people say?! Also, think I saw that it didn't have a tv in the room? I know everyone will shout me down for wanting one on our honeymoon but we like having that on when we get ready to go out for dinner etc! (And if it rains etc as we are going in the rainy season!)

We were going to north America skiing but now think we'll head to Thailand for some sun.

We'll book flights to Koh Samui but probably stay on Koh thao. It's not a package and won't be a traditional 'luxury' hotel so I'm expecting change from £4k unless we upgrade the flights

There isn't a pool and water was lovely - although I did get a little scared of the sea cucumbers, reef sharks and sting-rays, but I am the world's biggest wimp!

There isn't a tv - there's a computer for dvds though if that helps

We're going to Sorrento Italy for 7 nights, adult only resort, all inclusive in August [school hols].

We've already booked it and got free seat upgrades/seats together and less than half price insurance each with Thomson.

Cost 2k - without spending money. [Haven't even thought about that yet!]

Oh my goodness...! We are having a week at Center Parcs, which is costing £700 altogether, plus some spending money for the activities. A bit different from the rest of you... We might do a more special holiday next year, when we will be less tired from all the wedding planning and the emotion of getting married, and in a better state to enjoy it ? But even then, I doubt very much that we'd spend more than £1000 each.

I suppose it's a once in a lifetime holiday, and we do have the money (saved up over the years), so we could do it if we chose to - but I just don't think I could bring myself to spend say £5k on one holiday! I do hope you all enjoy your very special honeymoons though!

We are going away for 17 days on an American Road trip - 4 nights in San Francisco, 3 nights in Yosemite, 4 nights in Las Vegas, 1 night Grand Canyon, 2 nights Los angeles and then up route one the Pacific Coast Highway back to San Francisco to fly home.

We originally got a quote fromm an estate agents but it was slighlty more than we wanted to spend and we thought we could get it cheaper so we have booked every part ourselves - Flights, hotels and car hire for £3000 not including spending money - Can't wait I'm getting married in 24 days Smiley smile

We got married 8 years ago. For our honeymoon we went to Las Vegas for 4 nights and New York for 3 nights. It was fabulous - I would love to do it again. Our wedding presents were american dollars so we did lots of trips and stuff! One of the main things was a helicopter flight & champagne picnic at the Grand Canyon. In Vegas we even lay by the pool and chilled out!!!

We went with Virgin and booked when they had a deal on. I think it cost about £2500 for the two of us. Well worth it.

I really want to go to Borneo (Sabah) but is seems really expensive - £3.5k each for two weeks - five days/nights sightseeing and 10 nights beach all including meals. It includes the cost of the different sightseeing things tho, so not sure if that makes it seem more reasonable? Really want a once in a lifetime holiday and somewhere we can go and see things we wouldn't see elsewhere...x
