About £18.5k including honeymoon (we're marrying abroad so it's a continuation of that) and UK reception. NO idea how things got that expensive since I initially said £12k tops, but there you go! It's pretty much all budgeted for already anyway.

Im worrying slightly that we may not make our 10k budget now if we do decide to go for the 7k venue. x

The venue itself is taking up 50% of the budget hence the larger costs, I believe. I would never spend money I haven't got, or get into debt just so I can have an expensive wedding.

Tricker's I haven't picked my dress yet but do have an idea as to the type of thing I want, no idea whether Ms Wang will be the lady or not! I haven't actually organised much at all thus far, only the venue and photographer!

You know ladies, I'll have to learn how to *flash* before I can flash- d'oh!

Mummymrs2b - what does the venue include? If it includes all food, drink, decor, DJ etc then you'll have more of a chance at meeting the budget than if it doesn't obviously.

£3k to cover everything else (rings, honeymoon, dress, suits, BM dresses, photographer, flowers, transport, cake...) would be cutting it fine I think but I'm sure it's do-able!

£5K, not including honeymoon. Manor house, 60 day guests, 100 evening. 3 course sit down meal, wine with dinner, arrival and toast drink, evening buffet. I don't think we've had to make do with anything either.

Over all inc honeymoon I think about 22k- we started with a budget of £15000, then upped that to £18k, this covered all the big things and then I got to the 'in for a penny in for a pound' stage and figured as long as we don't get in debt and don't go silly (ie. spend huge amouts of money on something just for the sake of it) it didn't really matter- TBH I haven't even added it all up could be more, could be less but the most important thing is we get the wedding we want

This! We've budgeted 10k for wedding costs, with an emergency buffer of 10%. Honeymoon is not included, the budget for that is £4k altogether maximum...going to the Excellence Playa Mujeres in Mexico for two weeks all inclusive.

We don't have a set budget really...we just choose what we like and make sure we feel that we are getting value for money. I don't mind paying for what I feel is a good quality service/product. I appreciate we are lucky to not have to work to a strict budget. but I am still enjoying doing stuff myself, and a happy coincidence of this is we save money!

Just today I have been ordering jam jars and luggage tags for the favours, stripey straws, ribbon and wooden sticks to make little stirrers for the drinks...

Our wedding is coming in at around 15k, that's minus the honeymoon. We're off to Oz for our honeymoon so that's gonna be another few grand, and we're funding it all ourselves, so the belts have been pulled very tight!!

Not sure yet as we're still researching but it's looking like approx 7-10k including getting married abroad and having a honeymoon for two weeks and a party when we get home.

    Honeymoon was £3500

Some amazing budgets on here... JEALOUS! We've budgeted £3k - the key will be finding the right venue/s. Also I keep reminding myself that 'tradition' isn't the same as 'must-have'. You can basically do whatever you want for your wedding, whether it's an eight-course meal in a castle or a self-catered community hall. We have sacrificed the least necessary elements (posh transport, real flowers, sit-down meal) and are prioritising food and drink! Haven't even begun to think about the honeymoon yet...

This to an extent, of course there is a limit to this! When we first got engaged I did a very generous budget by adding up costs of what each thing might cost and it was about £25k, I deliberatley over estimated rather than under estimate as psychologically I'd rather come in under budget than over!! At the moment we are at about £19k exc honeymoon (we're having a gift list for this). For every single item I am questioning the cost and trying to keep it as low as possible without comprimising too much on quality or our dream day.

BUT as has already been said, even by those whose budget is twice the size of mine, you can throw as much money as you like at a wedding but it is the people & atmosphere that make it - plus if you end the day with a marriage certificate then the day is complete!

    I started with a budget of £10k.

Realised my OH is unemployed so now got it down to £8k and still finding ways to cut down.

Luckily my venue looks more expensive than it is and my £1500 dress was £375 as its past season 2 sizes too big with a small snag in the lace (my dressmaker fixing all for £100)

Our budget was a maximum £15k (inc. honeymoon to Cuba). We're paying for it ourselves so like others we've looked at lots of ways of cutting down. So far we've saved around £2k. ?

We haven't really set a budget but from what we have booked and estimated what we need I think it's coming to £16k. Would like to cut that down if I can. We have 120 people for a three course meal and 200 guests total at night. Going to attempt to do invitations and favours myself to save some money.

I'm lucky in that even though I'm currently unemployed and on the hunt for a job, I'm able to get by temping and my OH has a great job and we have plenty of savings. So, we took the approach of we'll do what we really want within reason. All told before honeymoon I think we'll be splashing out £22,500 in the end. That for 60 day guests, an additional 40-50 evening guests, overnight accommodation, and our dream venue Hever Castle. Basically, the venue and catering/alcohol is about 75% of our costs, with the rest done by cutting costs through DIYing the flowers, decoration, cake, etc. I'm even having my dream dress recreated by a dressmaker for 1/12th the cost!

I think if I didn't desperately want Hever Castle, our budget could possibly have been £16000 or so.

    Hello,

Our wedding came to £12-£13k in all - including the honeymoon. This was a little over what we wanted to spend (we were originally budgeting £10-£12k), but we certainly haven't bankrupted ourselves by spending the little bit extra. Both myself and by hubby wanted a big wedding and we knew that we'd have to pay for it - we were very lucky to also have help from both sets of parents.

I think ClaireMcB had it right on page 1 - spend money on what matters to you. A good example of this was my dress - over £1k for a dress that I have so far worn once (but it will have a couple more outings!). Yes, this was expensive but I know that if I'd not spend this money to have the dress of my dreams, I would have regretted it for the rest of my life. But if its more important to you to have lots of guests, or an amazing 5 tier cake, then spend your money in those areas!

We're budgeting about 15k. We're lucky that as soon as we told our parents, they both offered to help pay, and my Dad is really looking at doing it traditionally, and so he wants to pay for quite a lot of things!! But I don't want to put too much pressure on them, so still trying to get it as cheap as possible!

10k budget - minus honeymoon, however this will need to be revisited as our ceremony venue has now decided to stop doing weddings. So we need to have a complete rethink!

Around £8.5k not including honeymoon. We're only having a tiny wedding so its actually quite expensive for what we're getting but we fell in love with our venue and nothing else would do after seeing it.
