Arrived in the UK on the 4th November, and on the evening of the 5th I felt the cold symptoms - bit of a sore throat, that 'watery' feeling - and by the next day I was full of it, along with lost voice, muscle aches, the lot.
Didn't have time to rest up, and just carried on although felt like crap, and sounded it too.
Developed a chesty cough and brought up a load of yellow phlegm (sorry to be graphic), and the chemist helpfully said that if he gave me something I'd get better in 7 days, if he didn't give me anything, I'd get better in a week.
So much for his better in a week lark .. it's now the 6th December and I'm still coughing up yellow phlegm, still blowing it down, still have muscle aches, and still feel like crap.
What the hell is going on? I've taken as much stuff as I can bearing in mind my other medication (US pharmacists were able to see what I'm on so could recommend certain OTC drugs, unlike the UK chemist).
My brother's Dr checked me over when I was there and said that she could give me a prescription for antibiotics which I could have dispensed if the phlegm turned green, which would be a sign of bacterial infection rather than viral (yellow), but I didn't take it as it's still yellow.
Did I pick a nasty cold strain up while I was there? Is this going round in the UK and I've now brought it back with me and given it to Mr P? (he's got it now). What a PITA .. could really do without this. <sniff><cough>
