How much of a planner are you?

Pittabre, 27 November, 2012 at 15:10 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 11

I guess it is a spectrum that people fall somehere along but I love to plan... not for one eventuality but for many so if this doesn't happen this will instead. So I love planning out mentally what my new home witll be like and how it will be organised etc

I'm a planner, but also a dreamer. This has worked in my favour so far as I plan baby steps towards my goals ?

have plans for pretty much everything. My wedding plans are on an Excel spreadsheet, though P made me get rid of the Pivot Table ?; I have a goal for learning Danish and am going to put that into a spreadsheet charted by month; I mentally plan my workouts at the gym. I also keep both my phone diary and my calendar up-to-date so we can see what we've got coming up at a glance.

Interesting distinction Nicola. I guess I am more of a dreamer than a planner, I go through all the various scenarios in my head constantly to try and help me decide what to do.

I don't always know what I want, but when I do know what I want, I make sure I get it ?

It's odd because at work I hate having to plan and would rather be able to do things in a project-based fashion. Which does involve planning but in a different way... I mean I would rather be given a project and be told "you need to complete this by x date" than have to organise my own time, because that usually ends up with me being on Hitched ?

I don't like not knowing what is going to happen in the near future, I feel a lot more secure knowing where we will be in 6 months' time. Living in rented accommodation was very stressful for me and currently I am feeling uneasy because we're still not fully unpacked and the bath is missing its side panel (need to wait for it to be delivered).

I love to plan. I like to plan absolutely everything, from silly little things, to big things. I hate it when people say to me "just see how it goes", I can't! Even if I know plans are likely to change I still like making them, just in case ?

I don't 'plan' as such, but sort of know where things are going. I have to put a lot of trust in the powers that be (whatever they are). All I know is, so far, I've always got what I wanted and where I wanted to be, although sometimes not as fast as I would like. Seriously, I'm very impatient at times! So, now I am an OM, SAHM, my next things are to have #2 baby, buy a house, eventually have The House and somewhere along the way travel a little bit with DH. Possibly 12 months abroad (for his work).

so, just sort of seeing how things pan out. My OH will always deliver, so I guess I put a lot of my trust in him really! All I know is I think we will be happy, in a nice-sized house that is pretty Eco efficient ( his '"thing" not mine) and we will have 2 lovely children, possibly more if we do foster/adopt too. And I will look fab and be doing some voluntary work and possibly a bit of writing on the side. (Not that you would think it from reading my Hitched posts - I blame iPad)

OH and I always say our relationship has perfect balance as he's the "ideas person" and I'm the "details person". I'm a big planner, whereas he's more creative and spontaneous. For example, he'll decide he wants to go on a weekend away, or make pancakes at 10pm, and I'll be the one to plan the trip or make sure we're following the recipe!

I'm not a massive planner of the big things, like I don't really have a '5 year plan' or anything like that, but I do like to plan in the more immediate future. I feel really uneasy if me and OH have a day off and we haven't got even a rough plan of what we'll be doing with our day, whereas OH will happily decide 10 minutes before he goes out. I also like to know what my weekend plans are, mainly as it gets me through the week!

I'm a vague planner. I have idea of what I want, where I want to be etc but I'm not too fussed in the detailing. I don't know if it's just me and H but everytime we plan something bigger than a holiday it never goes how we thought. It never ends badly but we always have to re-adjust said plan so I've given up on the fine detail. I don't like the idea of just drifting along though so it makes me feel better to have vague deadlines for things to happen. That way I have wriggle room but also something to aim for (bit of a cop out!). I'd love to be a list person. I get half way through and get bored.

Far too much, I actually plan too much and it can have an effect on my life as I plan things in great detail and when they dont happen I get really disappointed or upset.

Very much a planner. I like to know what we'll be doing at the weekend. I have a spreadsheet with every penny accounted for and a forecast for te next year. I have gone through every eventuality of this pregnancy an researched every 'what if' I can think of so I'm prepared. I wouldn't dream of going shopping without a list if i can help it. I am über planner! My H is the exact opposite.
