How much realistically?

mrsbrown220219, 9 April, 2012 at 08:44 Posted on Honeymoons & Getting Married Abroad 0 7

How much does it realistically cost to get married abroad?

I've seen brochure prices through travel agent that state that their packages are from £XXX but it doesn't really indicate if this is just for the ceremony as a few bits and his or whether a reception is included in the price. We are trying to work out a budget but at struggling with costings for abroad! xxx

    Hi,

It can be hard to work it all out. We have a wedding planner & have paid for their basic package, which includes a lot of things we could not arrange & also means they are with us every step of the way on the date. This has cost us £700 & with all the legal paperwork that needs doing for Greece, CNI, everything been legalised at the foreign office & then been translated into Greek in Rhodes we think this will add another £350 on top. The reception is working out at about £42 with the euro rate per person & this includes a welcome drink, half a bottle of wine, water & a 3 course meal. The place where we have picked for the reception is one of the most expensive, but it's somewhere we love, so it could have been cheaper. The rest is what you add, flowers, chapel decorations, we are having a champagne boat cruise too which add around another £500. I'd say including the holiday & everything we are doing we are looking at about 4k. We have not got all the final costs yet but hopefully it will be around that. Wedding related things are not as expensive in Greece as here but they are certainly getting into the wedding market more than they used to, somethings have been more expensive than we expected but other things like the cost of the reception we think is excellent value at £42pp. For the main meal we have a coice of 7 meals to offer everyone, they do have to choose in advance but still a good choice. Not sure where you are looking at, but i'd research as many forum for info & costs & ask as many wedding planners for costs & even email possible reception venue for sample wedding meals, which is what we did & it gave us a good idea of costs.

    All the best

    Hi,

I am getting married next may in Santorini and have booked through a wedding planning company called Ionian weddings. They offer 3 different priced packages depending on what you want ranging from about 1000 Euro. I have got mine priced up for the whole thing including the pacakgem the venue, the chair cover,s the reception (food menu and all inclusive bar) at around 7000 Euro. The Package i am having includesSmiley tonguere-wedding planning consultation with your wedding planner in Santorini, Wedding venue booking, Preparation of documents, Associated fees, Wedding Coordinator fees, Marriage licence, Escort for relevant paperwork to be completed in Santorini, Wedding ceremony, Wedding planner for the duration of your wedding, Bridal bouquet, Matching boutonniere for the Groom, Recorded music for ceremony, Wedding cake (1 tier), Bottle of champagne, Decorated altar table with flower & candle decorations, Photographer (1 hour), CD with 60 high res photos, Return bridal transfer from hotel to ceremony and then reception. There is more included on the other package. I have also paid for exclusivity on my reception venue, which includes a DJ playing till 3 in the morning, table decorations, venue decorations and chair covers with sashes. This also means no one else can come into the bar apart from wedding party people, this has cost 1500 and my food is a served BBQ which is 40Euro Per hear, and i have opted for the all inclusive bar for the guests which is also 40Euro per head. I also have extras such as greek dancers and fireworks.

I hope this helps ? xx xx xx

I'm marrying on Zanzibar and our package is $1600 including 3 nights accommodation at the venue, the ceremony and priest, musicians, simple flower posy and dinner for 2 on the beach. We're actually spending $5000 since we're adding a very good photo package, video and hair and makeup. Flights extra, of course, but we're actually booking a really nice honeymoon package and arranging a 3 day gap slotted into it for the wedding, so flights are in honeymoon budget instead.

I wanted to do it all for about 6 grand but including the holiday wedding and reception plus I want a little party when we get back so the budget has gone upto about 9 grand but defo cheaper than doing it at home cos the wedding is going to be the honeymoon too so we haven't got to pay extra for that but I'll be looking for ways to make it cheaper lol.

Thank you! I have contacted a couple of wedding planners in Sorrento now and they have emailed over details of prices and services, put my mind at rest a bit as to what I will be able to have getting married abroad!! I'm also emailing some Malta planners to get prices from there! I was worried that they wouldn't be able to plan any kind of reception for some reason and we'd just be sat round the hotel! xxx
