grace85, 3 August, 2010 at 11:19 Posted on Planning 0 20

Ok so another dress thread from me, they will stop soon i promise, lol.

So i've seen this dress on light in the box...

for some reason it won't show the whole picture so here's the link too

but i'm worried people will think it's boring.

You are really struggling with this dress issue aren't you? You poor thing!

What happened to the other dresses you saw? Did light in the box not do them? It is a plain dress but if you want plain then it's perfect. Which part of dress shopping are you struggling with the most? Is it the shape of the dresses? The material? The cost? I definitely think the mermaid/fish tail shape will suit your fab curvy figure. Why don't you put a request out for the type, material and budget for a dress and see what us fellow hitchers can do for you? We'll all help the best we can.

It is beautiful - however i am biased as mine dress is similarly cut and only small amount of beading on the bodice. I really like it and your right, it means you can go to town on your accessories. Its whatever you like chick xx

When i decided that i wanted another dress i thought it would be plainer. Something like BelindaColes but more fishtail.

In RL i'm a plain kinda girl, i'd rather wear a plain outfit and accesorize then something patterened with no jewellery so i suppose it should be the same on my wedding day.

Plain rocks Smiley smile particularly with a statement piece. However, where does a necklace like that sit on you, you dont want it near the 'neckline' of those straight edged dresses, need to have space tween dress and pendant/drops, IYSWIM, and often these necklines sit wayyyyy too up the body, practically near the collar bone......

dress is gorgeous, necklace is stunning, its just a matter of putting them together Smiley smile

As with the ladies above that question can only simply be answered by you ?

My dress doesn't have any sparkle on it and is very plain (apart from the one strap awesomeness), but I love it and think that when you have your accessories and flowers it will look completely different again.

    Ha ha, i'm a nightmare aren't i, lol.

I do love the landy dress but i think it might be a bit girly for me, i'm really not a girly girl, i don't do flowers and ruffles so i'm a bit dubious about feeling it's too girly when i get it.

Ok my specs are...fishtail shape, satin if poss, quite plain and budget of about £200.

The necklace is just a quick google image to get the idea so not sure what i'd get yet but something quite big. There was a four weddings in the last series and a forgeign bird had a really simple dress and a amazing necklace, (hers was coloured, i'd just have sparkle) but that's the kind of image i picturing.

My dress was a different style but the same idea. Not a single bead, pearl or lace. I loved it it was exactly what i wanted. Having said that it depends what kind of person you are. I am just not a lacy, sparkly person so it suited me to a T.

I think to rock statement jewellery you need to go plain - and think of all the fun you can have shopping for beautiful accessories!

I was going to go plain but feel in love with a really detailed dress, so simple studs and bangle for me! I don't regret my choice, but sometimes I do look at other people's accessories with the green eyed monster! Hehe!

If you love it, that's all that matters! xx

As it's my 2nd dress i'm going to have to go to landy or light in the box, can't afford to get another "proper" dress. Could probably go to £300 but that's including shipping costs.

Also with the neckline, the lady that is doing the alterations may be able to make it into a slight sweetheart too.

Ok I'm going to look around for you! No you're not a nightmare at all, my dress searching days are over so it's nice to go looking again. I've found a few so far:

    http://www.couturebrideandgroom.co.uk/lace-fishtail-wedding-dress-size-18.ir?cName=designer-wedding-dresses

http://www.couturebrideandgroom.co.uk/satin-wedding-dress-with-coloured-sash-size-14.ir?cName=sale-sample-dresses - love this. You could have an ivory coloured sash.

There are loads on preloved too. Have a look there.

I remember seeing your report actually Lou and thinking how striking it all looked with the plain dress and the bright colours, your BM's dresses were gorgeous too.

I'm going to have a look around this afternoon for some real statement jewellery i think. ?

    Thanks Grace.

A statement necklce sounds Fab. Just go with whatever you are most comfortable with. You want to feel like the best version of yourself on the day. Not someone you can hardly recognise.

    Nope!

I was the opposite really - thought i'd want all the sparkle but the more I tried on the more i liked the plainer ones - very classic looking.

My dress was completely plain (bar folds in the material) and I wore a simple pearl necklace. That dress is quite similar to mine.

You could always get some sparkles added on to it if you deicde to? I did think of getting a sparkly brooch to add to mine but decided against it.
