How rude can people be? Sorry mini rant!!

Hugo Brambles, 6 January, 2010 at 17:39 Posted on Planning 0 13

Also on DW for any duel peeps. OH's cousin rang this lunch to ask if it's too late to cancel them coming - not because of the snow but he doens't think that his work will give him time off. ? Err, did you not think to book time off when you told us you were coming? Yes its too fecking late to ring up and cancel!!!!!! It's too late to cancel their meals and drinks, the favours I've bought, the table plan and seating arrangements. We have had to be so strict on numbers, that's 2 places I could have extended to other people we weren't able to ask. I mean WTF, the wedding is less than 48 hours away and he thinks its acceptable to ring up and cancel? I feel like sending him a bloody bill for what it's cost us for their places. I can't really invite anyone else, they've said that they 'will try and get time off' so its like we may or may not see them. Also it's a bit late notice to ask anyone else to get Friday off work.

God only knows. I'm so bloody cross. I've said to OH if they don't go then they've had it with me, they won't be invited to any future parties/barbeques or the Christening. No chance.

This isn't the cousin that decided they were bringing the baby without asking was it? ?

Poor HB it's all been a hassle - just think though, in three days you will be Mrs HB - for the rest of your life ?

    How's the snow?

Thats so annoying, can't believe they phoned you to ask if it was ok! What a cheek.

How is the weather looking where you are HB? Do the roads look like they'll be clear enough for people to get to your venue ok? I'll keep my fingers crossed & hope any other phone calls you get will be positive ones! x

No BSB it's another one ? Although he has got 3 kids (one being a baby) so I said to OH if they do turn up, I wouldn't be suprised if they bring the univited kids too (as it seems to be the theme of the week!!).

Not really had any more today and it's been nice and sunny with beautiful blue skies. The roads have been clear all day but they are all white over now with frost/ice. If it doens't snow again I'll feel a bit better but having said that, the venue is half an hour away in the middle of nowhere so it could well be snowing or bad there as its like a different world away. Not much point me ringing them till tomorrow when we're heading up at lunch to take the cake/decorations.

That happened to us. ONe of hubbys old school pals. They accepted, chose their menu and had booked the room. Then 2 days before hubby gets an email at 4am saying sorry they werent coming, they were going to move house that weekend instead.

In hindsight I wish I had offered our photographers the two empty seats but never Xd my mind at the time.....

hubbys not spoken to him since. Im sorry it had to happen to you too. I told the table that they should have been at, that they could help themselves to the drinks that were sitting there! and no one made a fuss....

That is so rude, im not surprised you're fuming. i have a feeling we'll be in the same position as OH's family have a habit of missing important events. i really hope the weather situation stays ok and you WILL have a FABULOUS day and will forget about all the annoying little things ?

    hugs x

OMG! Seriously, I'd actually be raging! As you said, why have they not already booked the time off!

When they asked if it was too late to cancel I'd have just said, YES!

    (Im actually angry for you!)
