How should I accessorise this dress?

woo-woo, 4 August, 2010 at 11:31 Posted on Planning 0 13

Hi Ladies

As most of you know when we get married next month I will be 6 months pregnant, this is the dress I am going to wear. Our colour scheme is purple, I was thinking of wearing purple shoes and having a purple bouquet, I'm just wondering what I should wear in my hair and jewellery wise? I think perhaps the neckline isn't suitable for a necklace as it would be lost? I'm not a girly girl and getting me in a dress has been a struggle, haven't worn one since primary school! I'm not into veils/tiaras but was curious if you ladies thought this dress would lend itself to a birdcage one perhaps? Or also thought about a purple fascinator? I have dark brown bob length hair.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

That dress is gorgeous. Is it from somewhere called *** Rose? I remember finding a website with gorgeous lace bridal dresses and dresses for guests when I was pregnant.

If you are incorporating the purple into your shoes and bouquet I would keep your jewellery quite classic. I don't think a necklace would work with the neckline so I'd go for a two strand pearl bracelet like "monroe" below

It is all down to personal choice (I, for example, would keep the jewellery to plain pearls) but if you wanted to incorporate some crystals there are plently of options on my website and a two stranded bracelet could be made too. I'd stay away from rhinestone balls as these may catch on the lace but crystal diamante rondells and crystals would be fine.

    Sarah with AB crystals http://www.louloubelle.co.uk/bracelets_bridal.html#bracelets_stephanie

Sarah earrings and Stephanie earrings http://www.louloubelle.co.uk/earrings_bridal.html#earrings_sarah

Purity which is really simple but very effective http://www.louloubelle.co.uk/bracelets_bridal.html#bracelets_purity

    Angel with crystal rondells http://www.louloubelle.co.uk/bracelets_bridal.html#bracelets_angel

Grace with either freshwater pearls or Swarovski glass pearls and AB crystals http://www.louloubelle.co.uk/bracelets_bridal.html#bracelets_grace

Hairwise, will you have your hair pulled to the side? Either pulled back, or a long fringe pulled across? Nouveau would look lovely with lace and pearls and can be slotted into the side or front of the hair (or an up do). I actually wore it to the wedding I went to last week and slotted it on my hair like a slide rather than a comb at the side (I also wore Monroe and Hepburn jewellery!).

I'd love to assist in your search for jewellery (I get excited by lace and pearls! lol). If I can help at all or you would like any further information, please do get in touch on ****@***********.**.** (my website is www.louloubelle.co.uk). I've got some good offers on at the moment too.

A very simple neck chain would be lovely I think. If you are going to go for the purple shoes & bouquet, why not got them to make a wee purple flower for your hair the same? It would be simple yet very elegent!

With purple shoes and a purple bouquet, I would also have something purple in my hair (the flower idea is great, or a fascinator). I wouldn't have a birdcage veil as I don't think it'd go with the 'feel' of the dress. I think you're right about not needing a necklace, but maybe a pretty bracelet and/or earrings would go well.

Thanks ladies, I feel I do want something purple in my hair but it's just deciding what.

Lisa your jewellery is fab, looks amazing and I agree that pearls are most definately the way to go, I will have a proper look at your site this evening when the children are in bed.

No the dress isn't from Tiffany Rose although I did try two on from there, I was rather disappointed with the quaility if I'm honest, it's from an american website.

    Thanks again ladies x

Kate Vale (HIB) could make you a really simple purple fascinator with a few sparkles on for your hair, you should get in touch with her.

Is that the purple fascinator you have in your avatar ?

Sorry I'm full of the rubbish jokes today, it must be stress.

I agree that you shouldn't wear a necklace and you should keep the other pieces very simple. I also thought a purple flower or fascinator would look lovely and compliment the shoes and bouquet.

    Hi,

I agree with you and think a necklace isn't necessary. It would be lost against the dress since there isn't much of a gap at the neck.

I'd go for a nice bracelet and you could always incorporate purple Swarovski Crystals together with the pearls, even just having a few crystals throughout the design would be nice to pull the other purple elements together. Or you could just have a purple crystal at the end of an extension chain.

Here are some ideas from my website (

It's a 2 strand version of this but with a tiny difference in materials.

Drop me an email if you have any questions - ******@**************.**.**.

Oh that's a shame the dresses weren't great IRL, they look so nice on the website.

(PS: Happy to discuss hair accessory ideas incorporating purple pearls or crystals too - or even little amethyst gemstones perhaps)

    Hi

i think a nice flower / feather comb would be lovely for hair, because your dress is beautifully, i would go with what Lisaloulou suggested, keep your jewellery simply.

Best wishes for the day, and good luck with the new baby

LisaLou I thought the same that they looked great on the site but I ordered one from Debenhams for £100 (unfortunately it had to go back as didn't fit my bump) and it was far better quality than the dresses they sell for £300 and £400.

Love the idea of incorporating purple into my jewellery, will definately have a think and look at yours and PG's websites.

\i think the kissed by a rose comb would look nice https://www.3djewellery.co.uk/index_files/jewelled_hair_combs.htm although it has no purple in it

I also have a couple of delicate pearl bracelets https://www.3djewellery.co.uk/index_files/bracelets_silver_diamante_pearl.htm

Drop me an email if you want free samples and I'll pop them in the post to you. There are various shades of purples in Swarovski Crystals and I have them in stock to post if you wanted to double check the shades against your other purples.
