How soon is too soon?

Laura_Lee, 10 April, 2008 at 11:34 Posted on Planning 0 18

Hi all - I'm a newbie... We have booked our venue for 18th July 2009 and starting to book all the other stuff now too; photograhers / dress/ hotels...

Am I being a crazy-woman by doing it all now or is this normal?! Don't want all the vendors to think I'm a lunatic but if I do as much as I can now I might be a bit less stressed out nearer the time... well at least thats the plan.

It's next year so you are doing the right thing booking things now especially as it's a popular month. People are booking things for 2010!!

Hey date-twin! I'm getting married then too!

So far have the church, hotel, photographer and band and thats it.
Got no money to do anything else. Waiting until the summer really.
I think the big stuff you can afford to work on, no ones gonna think you're being too early. Theres a few others who marry on the same date and they are making invites etc etc!!

    Keep in touch ?

    Hi & welcome

I'm just 2 weeks before you and i booked most of my suppliers at the start of 2007. I got really excited and just couldnt help myself.

I would def start booking now as when i started to book last year other people had aswell for 09.

No I think I'll stick to main decisions. At least if I get the suppliers booked in the final details can be sorted nearer the date...

Very excited but still a bit daunted - going to look for my dress in a few weeks and it all feels a bit weird... oddly nervous about shopping?!

I'm 8th August 2009, so just after you, and we've booked a lot things already too. We found we had to start booking things because suppliers were started to get booked up!!

    Hi and welcome.

I'd say your starting about the right time, get all the important stuff booked like the church, registar, photographer, reception venue, caterers and then you can take a break and pick up with the planning again at the end of the year.

It's what i've done and with 4 months to go most stuff is sorted andi can concerntrate on the finer details.

    Enjoy wedding planning ?

Hello and Welcome, I am a East Anglia Bride to be too. I'm 3 miles out of Ely, but don't get married till 2010. In the process of getting our reception venue booked, and looking at ideas etc. So no! I don't think you are too early!

I have had bookings for July 2009 since last September and have a couple of 2010 brides already so I wouldn't think an enquiry for that date was strange.?

What I would do is get the big things booked as soon as possible like your venue/church and photographers and then start having a good look around for dresses and ideas and all the rest of it will start to fall into place.

We get a significant number of bookings over 12 months in advance, so I would say - go for it.

    Hiya

I'm not geting married til 2010 and we already have the venues booked - and the cars sorted as well as the photographer/videographer. It makes it seem more real as there is still a long way to go, it means you have plenty of time to work things to an affordable budget and you get some good deals as we have paid for everything at this years prices ?
