how soon to start looking for a dress???

I got my dress in Oct 2009 for my wedding in sept 2010, but mainly because i hate clothes shopping and wanted to get it over and done with. theres no harm in looking around now, if you get a dress now they be able to alter it if you loose weight. my shop will be doing any alterations a few months prior to the wedding even though i'll have had in on hold for months, but mine was a sale dress. just don't drive yourself mad panicking about it just yet it is a long way off.

I'm getting married sept 2010, i bought my dress april 09. Just don't look at any other dresses when you order yours.

im getting married in august 2011 and have found the dress i love and its reduced too!! i amd seriously contemplating buying it now because im telling myself if i love it now i will love it next year!! like a previous poster said i will try to not look at another dress after i have got it...!!

a lot of (already married!!) friends have told me its the wrong thing to do as i HAVE to spend days trying on all kinds of dresses to see what suits-but surely if i dont like a dress im not going to try it on to see if it suits??!!! and my lovely MIL to be told me i will get what i pay for so basically ill be wearing a cheap nasty dress that doesnt suit me but oh well i will love it!!!!

Hiya!! I too am getting married 17th Sep 2011 and so excited!

I found my dress and went to try it on in October last Year, I have now ordered it this month and it will arrive in May 2011 for my final fitting!

I'd say if you do find a dress get them to bring it into the shop as late as possible then you willl only need the dress altered once as they don't normally do the final fitting for 6 weeks before the wedding!! Also beware of hidden storage costs, some shops will charge you a monthly rental to keep your dress as they have to insure it! x
