How to approach a show about selling sample dresses/Change of plans? Eek!!

MrsONeill2B, 16 May, 2012 at 11:40 Posted on Planning 0 2

Hi Ladies,

I haven’t posted for a while as me and OH have had a re-think, we are booked to go to Vegas in August (just for holiday) but now it is beginning to be quite tempting to get married there! This had never crossed our minds before but St Lucia was nearly £10k for 2 weeks which is a huge chunk of money which we could use towards a house.

Anyhoo I’ll get to the point, I really was Justin Alexander 8609 dress, I have tried this on and paid a deposit for it with a store but the dress takes up to 8 months to be made and we go in 3! I am sure there is no way the dress could be made in 3! The sample dress at the shop was tight but I am dieting anyway, would you approach the store about buying the sample dress? And other stores?

If so how do I go about it? There aren’t any other dresses I REALLY like but there is no way I can have it made in 3 months.

I have trawled the internet (ebay, gumtree, preloved etc) for someone selling the dress and the nearest I have come up with is the 8610 on here which isn’t available until the 6th of august which would be OK at a push!

I have no idea what to do and any help would be greatly received!

Thanks ladies of hitched!

xx

Ok, my very recent experience at looking for Dress #2 has revealed to me that dresses CAN be made in a MUCH shorter time frame than the stores tell you. I have now gone to several stores looking for a replacement, and each store has told me that a dress can be rush ordered. Some said that it requires a 10% upcharge, but others have said forget about the upcharge, if we ask the manufacturer to make it in time, they will. (FYI, my wedding is in early July, and all this happened within the last week.)

So . . . I would go about just telling them your situation and saying that you need the dress sooner, is there any way possible? If they have a good relationship with the manufacturer, perhaps they can do it.

As far as sample dresses, you just ask. I would shoot off emails to a bunch of stores that carry Justin Alexander and ask for the one you want in a sample, if available.

P.S. Have also learned that many stores don't advertise that they're selling samples, but they do if you ask.

Thank you so much MAG2FMC! I shall get onto them later and see what they say, hopefully they will be able to rush the order! As I have paid the deposit I would really like my dress but if I have to i would have a sample and lose the deposit.

E-mail is being done as I speak! I shall have my dress!

Thank you so much for your help!
