How to choose bridesmaids?

HappyBrownDecor18059, 17 April, 2018 at 18:50 Posted on Planning 0 1

I'm interested in what other people have done. Did you know straight away who to ask, or was it a struggle to choose? Did you have to make any difficult decisions?

I've currently got one cousin and one friend, but I'm dithering over a third friend... We used to be really close but we haven't seen as much of each other over the last year even though we haven't fallen out or anything, so I'm wondering if it would be awkward to ask her. But then again she might be offended if I don't!

    I have 6 altogether!

3 are friends who I have been close to for years. One of these I was going to ask to be my MOH, but we've drifted apart over the last couple of years - we're still great friends, and I definitely want her as a bridesmaid, but we just aren't as close as we used to be. So I decided not to have a MOH at all to avoid conflict! The other 2 have recently had babies, so having a bigger bridesmaid team than I originally planned will hopefully help reduce stress from them!

My 4th is a friend who I've known for a long time, and I'm her bridesmaid this year.

The 5th is a friend who I've met more recently, and she's also known my fiance since uni, plus she introduced us!

And finally, I have my best friend from when I studied my Masters. She lives in America, so won't be able to do much of the bridesmaid stuff, but I couldn't imagine her not being there with me!

There is one other that I contemplated, we lived together for 3 years of uni. Having an even number works well though, plus costs to think about. I've asked her to a reading during the ceremony instead.

Fiance has done the same - he's asked a friend of his to do a reading who missed out on an usher spot!

It just comes down to who do you most want there, who will do a good job, and what can you afford?

    Good luck!

I've kept it simple having my sister as MoH and FH's sister as my bridesmaid Smiley smile
