Depends on venue and what lighting is already available, more info required.

    This. Where's your venue?

    When are you getting married?

OT, but anyone else read the title as "How to make lightning more exciting?"

Back on subject, exciting light may not be flattering light. As a photographer, I can tell you light makes all the difference. If possible try to avoid hard light (small light source) that will create dark shadows under your eyes. Just about every picture will look bad. The photographer will pretty much have no choice but to use flash, even if they don't like using flash.

Also be careful about funky colours...

Imo, some small lights on the floor shining up the walls (soft light) that will make you and everyone else look good. You can then use supplementary pin lighting (hard light), to highlight certain details.

One thing that is quite important is to match the colour temperature of the lights. If one set of lights has an orange colour cast, yet another has a green colour cast, the pictures will look naff, they will be pretty much impossible to correct in post production (at least in a reasonable time frame), so you will end up with mostly black and white's.
