Ginger_g43, 25 August, 2008 at 16:53 Posted on Planning 0 6

Does anymore know if there is a quiz type thing that helps you find your ideal wedding location?

A quiz? No, sorry. I just had a look at what was available in the area and chose one that met our needs.

i was the same but as we knew which day we wanted, we knew it would be small (the date lands on a wednesday) so that was the easy part. The reception is being held on the saturday after and we had to sit down and work out how many people we were inviting and what we wanted (around 150 peeps, a ceilidh band, buffet and accomodation at the venue and nearby if needed) and looked at the hotels we knew that would cover that and discounted the one that we had already been at 3 weddings at!

We then went round to have a look and decided which we liked best for what they offered.

Don't know of a quiz but make a checklist

How many guests for the ceremony/ main rec/ evening reception

Civil ceremony in venue / registry office or church

    Ceremony at venue or elsewhare

    Indoor or outdoor

    Hotel / Barn/ Village Hall/ Marquee

    Budget!

Things like that checek what you both like then see whats avaliabe in your area.

Your local regetraras website will give you a list of licenced venues for a civil ceremony.

Neither was i so we just picked somewhere that would cater to our needs. The place we picked would let us have our own caterers which was very important to us so that's where we picked.

We were the same, looked at quite a few then one just seemed perfect so that was the one we went for.

Definatley decide how many people you want to invite before you start looking and whether or not you mind if there are other wedding going on on the same day and if you want rooms to be available for your immediate family to stay in as they were the biggest factors we found for whittling down the possibles before going and looking at them. Oh and budget as some have minimum numbers/spend.
