    Hi There

I tend to lurk a bit but am a total sunworshipper so throught I would pop on! I used to be a rep in Mexico so my top tips for Mexican sun are:

Exfoliate a lot before you go and use plenty of moisturiser to get an even tan, and keep this up while you are away,

Sun cream and lots of it! Mexico is viscious for sun burn so please please use a decent factor! You can buy low factor oils with deep tan accelators out there, but they are only factor 2 or 0, so I used to put sun cream on first and let that sink in properly.

Johnsons holiday skin! Slightly cheating but if you use it every night after you have been in the sun it really tops your tan up quickly!

HTH - and you have a wonderful time, I wish I was there!!

Cheers, i tan quite well anyway so i usually only need a low factor for the first day or two! But i was wondering more about if anyone knew any good tan accelerators? lol!

But can i ask you! What exactly is the weather like at the minute out there, we were told good, but i keep seeing showers! Are there any tours you would say are a must? and lastly, what currency are we best taking travellers cheques in dollars or sterling?

thank you for your help and i cant wait to go! am so excited! x

    Hi

It is normally about 30 degrees and pretty sunny (hurricane season though ☂️ ) Any showers tend to last for an hour or two on average and help reduce the humidity so not a bad thing!

Definately take Dollars, not Peso's as they are excepted everywhere. As for tours there are loaads and it depends on your taste, but I would say definately get to one of the eco water parks - Xel Ha or Xcaret, then there are loads of other choices.

If you like Mayan history and culture, you can visit Chichen Itza (the Pyramid) Tulum or Coba, for water based days you can go 2 man speed boating, Catamaran trips, Pirate ship dinners, there was a fab Jungle Safari day when I was there which included a jeep ride through the bush, underground snorkelling and kayaking in Croc infested waters, and of course the swimming with dolphins, manatees and sharks options!

Random tip for you - do not talk to anyone in the airport - they are trying to sell you timeshare no matter what they say (and they will pretend to be your holiday rep!) and be careful of ice in your drinks outside of the hotel, they normally use tap water for it in the bars and restaurants.

And take lots of Mosquito repellent! And shower gel - the one thing you cannot buy anywhere!

I'll stop now before I slip back into total rep mode - but if you need to know anything else just ask!

    Have fun ?
