How to tell sister her partner isn't invited

disneyfanatic95, 8 November, 2016 at 11:46 Posted on Planning 0 5

Hey,

So about a 9 months ago my sister split with her fiancé so when we had to rewrite the guest list.

after we sent them out we said that she can not have a guest because we just have not got the numbers to accommodate. My brother also does to have a plus 1 but he understands this.

she has recently got back with her partner and he haven't heard from her since.

i know she knows that he can not come however she can play dumb so we are unsure whether to address it again, we are going to send out the invites soon which will just be addressed to her.

we aren't being unreasonable are we?

No not at all. I think any reasonable person would realise that numbers are tight when planning a wedding.

When I sent out invitations my best friend was single. Now she has met someone. When I saw her at the weekend she asked in front of him whether he would be invited. I explained as nicely as I could that it was a "sorry but no". He is of course welcome to join her in the evening but we just haven't got room for him during the day.

I'm not inviting my sisters partner. He was originally invited and sitting with us at the top table but they had a horrible break up (he turned violent) and although they are back together I don't want him there.

I don't know if she knows this yet - it's never really talked about - but I'm going to mention it to her. I'd rather have the argument now than later.

The point it - tell her now. Get the argument over with so if she is playing dumb she doesn't get dramatic when the invite comes through the door.

That's great, it's just irritating when this happens. TBH even if he was invited he might not have even turned up on the day which would annoy me even more

thanks for the advise Smiley smile means alot

We have said no to my OH sister's partner, as he is a horrible drunk who is physically abusive to her and they break up and get back together every 6 months. She has said to other members of the family she is upset but has yet to say anything to us. We are standing our ground on this one as they may not even be together when the wedding takes place. He is invited to the evening as we have invited all his sisters partners to the evening. His other sister is also off and on and we have said we would look closer to the time - however we want to have people during the day we really want.

Yeah with my sister they're always on and off and I don't want him to say that he will come and then not bother. She knew that when they split up she wasn't allowed to bring anyone else, but because they're back together it still stands that she isn't to bring anyone. We just do not have the numbers and I'm not paying more than I need to. Especially when they might not even be together. When I told her before that she isn't allowed to bring anyone I haven't heard from her since. But I think she knows how I feel about them getting back together, but only because he wasn't nice towards her and she wasn't to him, but hey she's 20 she's got to make her own mistakes and I'll be here for her when she needs it
